The Miami Shores community has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. The area was first occupied by the Timucua Indians, who were forced out of their homeland in what is now Puerto Rico by Spanish colonists in 1602. In 1881, the Miami Beach Club purchased 693 acres of land on Biscayne Bay for $4,000. The club built a clubhouse and began using the name “Miami Beach” for all its activities. During World War II, many American soldiers stationed in Miami Shores served in the military during the war years from 1941-1945. One of these soldiers was Edwin Pogue (1911-1945). After leaving service, Pogue opened a hardware store on Ocean Boulevard which he continued to run until his death in 1985. His son, Edwin Jr., ran the store until it closed in 2001. In 1948, Dr. Wilfredo Gomez opened a medical office at 5571 Collins Avenue in Miami Shores which became one of Florida’s most popular physicians with patients coming from throughout South Florida and Broward County. Dr. Gomez also operated an annex on Biscayne Boulevard near Akershus Drive called “Gomez Practice Home” where patients could come to see him unannounced and receive free care without any appointment necessary. This practice ended after Dr. Gomez’s death in 1984 due to complications from leukemia surgery that he had performed at home while under house arrest due to Communist Party surveillance attempts against him at that time (see related article: https://www2a2a2a1b1c1d1e1f3). In 1987, The Bassett Company (now known as JBL) opened its first branch location within 2 miles of Miami Shores when they leased space from Central Stores Incorporated on Old Cutler Road West near Biscayne Boulevard (now part of Kendall Commons Shopping Center). At this time JBL was one of only a few companies operating outside Havana Cuba during this period (see below for more information about JBL). In 1990-1991 JBL leased space from Sears Holdings Corporation on Aventura Blvd south of I-95 so that they could open their first US retail store inside an existing Sears building which they called Goldwater Plaza #3 – later renamed simply “JBL Plaza” following their purchase of adjacent property adjacent to Little Haiti Mall where they initially stored their inventory before expanding into other stores across Latin America over time including Mexico City; Santiago de Chile; Bogotá; Quito; Lima Peru; Sao Paulo Brazil and finally Caracas Venezuela where they remain today as one of Americas largest retailers ever! In 1998 JBL moved into new headquarters located at 7451 SW First Ave Suite 301Cinco De Mayo Blvd Tampa FL 33601) becoming one of Americas leading audio/visual equipment dealers with more than 12 million square feet sold! Today J BL continues its role as Americas largest retailer Of All Things Audio/Visual enjoying unprecedented success since opening our doors over 50 years ago!

Miami Shores is a small town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,491 at the 2000 census. The community is located on the shore of Miami Bay and bordered by Everglades National Park to the east and west. The area that became Miami Shores was originally called "Blankets" because there were no trees or houses in sight. In 1892, Wm Fenton purchased what is now known as Fenton Point from H.H. Bockelman for $1,000 and renamed it Miami Shores after his family's home country of Scotland. In 1903, James Mathers donated land to build a Presbyterian Church in Miami Shores which served as the first school in the community. In 1906, Jno Dyer bought property adjoining Mathers' church for $2,000 and erected a two-story wooden structure which he named "The Oaks". One of the earliest businesses in Miami Shores was The Cotton Mill which opened its doors in 1909. It operated until 1975 when it was replaced by an auto Parts store which still stands today on US 41 north of town (nowState Road 826). In 1925, John Caird developed what is now known as Coral Gables into what it has become today – one of South Florida’s most wealthy communities with well over 1 million residents who enjoy excellent access to major metropolitan areas through various forms of transportation including public transportation and driving; Jacksonville Jaguars football games are also frequently televised nationally from their stadium south of town; many notable celebrities have homes here including Oprah Winfrey and Michael Jordan; several private golf courses dot this highly sought after community; as well as numerous other businesses catering to special needs such as daycare centers and pharmacies

Miami Shores is a small town located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It was founded on August 29, 1914 by W.A. "Woody" Guthrie and his wife Ruth DeVoe. The Guthrie family built their home at 6500 NW 107th Street, which still stands today. The town got its start as a summer resort for residents of the nearby towns of Miami Beach and Coral Gables. In the 1920s, the Shores community grew to become one of South Florida's most prosperous communities with a population of around 1,000 people. After World War II, however, the economy declined and the population fell to around 350 people by 1960. By that time, Miami Shores had lost much of its significance as an agricultural center due to suburban development in the area surrounding it. Nevertheless, it retains some of its historical characteristics including a two-mile (3 km) long beachfront promenade called "Oasis Boulevard". Though it has seen many changes over time - from being part of Dade County until 1963 to becoming part of Broward County in 2003 - Miami Shores remains an important local community with a rich history that can be enjoyed today.
