Miami Springs is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Hollywood, FL metropolitan area. The community is located on State Road 27 about east of Kissimmee and west of Sanford. Miami Springs was founded in 1912 by brothers Harry and John Wortham as a seasonal resort for stockholders in their citrus farm in central Florida. The Worthams sold the resort to developers in 1926 and it became a major tourist destination with shopping, dining, swimming and sunbathing amenities. In 1957, Miami Springs became an official city when it annexed parts of Sanford.
