The Mount Dora Coast Guard Station was founded in 1912. The original building, which is still in use today, was located on the corner of West Main Street and Highland Drive. It served as the Headquarters for the Coast Guard from 1912-1974. In 1974, the Coast Guard moved to its current location on First Avenue North in Mount Dora. Today, the Coast Guard Station provides law enforcement and emergency services to a population of over 100,000 people living along Florida's Long Beach Peninsula. They also operate five harbor patrol boats that provide security and assistance during times of emergencies such as hurricanes or floods. In addition to their law enforcement responsibilities, the Coast Guardsmen provide various other services such as Search and Rescue; public information service; Marine Law Enforcement; recreational boating safety; and water rescue. In 2018 alone, they responded to more than 350 incidents including: 73 rescues involving vessels totaling over 100 tons (the most recent being a 90-foot motorboat); 11 car accidents; 8 boat accidents; 4 fires; 2 suicides ; 1 vehicle theft ; 1 criminal mischief case) Today’s coast guard gift history can be traced back to 1912 when the first station was established at Mount Dora by order of then Governor Jens Jacobsen. At that time there were only 12 personnel at the station with donations from area business owners and citizens alike supplemented by government funds available for limited periods of time during peacetime. During World War I there was an increase in duty due to troop mobilization but no gifts were given until 1921 when orders were placed for two additional officers at Mt Dora - one each year until 1932 when both officers resigned due to health reasons unrelated to duty requirements becoming fully effective upon their return from war service having completed two years long tour ashore with distinction The present day station at First Avenue North opened on December 9th, 1974 following construction costs totaling $2 million dollars which included land acquisition adjacent to Southeastern Hills Golf Club off Highway 301A providing accessable shoreline for harborside Naval Air Power Squadron One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight Nine And One Hundred Men With Sailorsman Onboard Helicopters Conducting Searches And Flights Within And Around The Harbor From Hours Of Dawn To Midnight Daily To Keep Our Harborside Shores Safe Against Pirates Or Other Vessels That May Threaten Our Safety While We Are Offshore Operating This Facility Is Also Used For Storage By Petty Officers corps Recruitment Training Plan

Mount Dora is a small town in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Mount Dora post office was established in 1903, and remained in operation until it closed on July 12, 2009. The Mount Dora community began as a farming hamlet on the northeast edge of town. By 1907, most of the original settlers had died from yellow fever and other diseases brought over by the new immigrants from Mexico who were settling in that area. A few years later, some additional buildings were erected to accommodate the growing community and its many workers. In 1912 a water pipeline was constructed to bring water from spring near Lake Wobegon to provide for burgeoning black farmer communities around Gainesville and Sanford across the state line. In 1940 almost all of rural Lee County became part of Fort Myers when that city annexed much of Collier County including Mount Dora Township (renamed Hernando after Franklin D Roosevelt) with its landowning white residents remaining behind as well as black tenant farmers living east of Williston Road on what is now Indian Springs Boulevard inside City limits of Fort Myers proper; this annexation removed about 2/3rds or 3/4ths (of total population) from rural Lee County while increasing fort Myers' size by more than 400%. As African Americans made progress within their own communities throughout Florida during World War II there was an increase in job opportunities available for those directly impacted by war production such as cooks and janitors; however, these positions were not generally open to whites only until after 1945 when laws changed providing racial quotas specific to manufacturing jobs which then opened up more white-collar jobs into which blacks could be recruited through affirmative action programs like Topeka’s "Aging White males must apply for preference" program enacted before Jackson Mayor Haley bonkersly vetoed it thereby creating Polk just prior to his inauguration thus electing him despite major bus boycott protests organized against him by elderly citizens). After Jackson's election many residents decided they did not want any Negro mayor so mounted civil disobedience erupted even though police successfully stopped any violence ensuing ..... Eventually everything turned out okay but it sure left an indelible marksmanship scar on our memories never forgetting how close we came Mount Dora post office closed due to lack of customers on July 12th 2009

Mount Dora, Florida is a small town located in Palm Beach County, Florida. The population was 1,003 as of the 2010 census. It is known for its golf courses and white sand beaches. The name comes from the Mount Dora National Forest which is located nearby. The first people to live in Mount Dora were English colonists who arrived in 1763. They named the settlement after the mountain in Wales where they had been born. In 1875, the United States bought land that included present-day Mount Dora from Spain and renamed it Fort Worth because of American president James K. Polk's visit to that city two years earlier. The village of Mount Dora began to form around 1900 when residents began building homes on what is now First Street near US 1 and State Road A1A. During World War II, the town became an important supply center for General Motors because of its location on I-95 exit 231 south of Miami. After the war, many businesses closed down but a new post office opened in 1951 and has remained open ever since. This small community experienced major growth during the 1980s with several new developments becoming popular such as shopping malls and apartments complexes along First Street between US 1 and state road A1A which made way for more restaurants, bars, shops and other services needed by today’s citizens living in this growing community In addition to all these developments there are also numerous historical landmarks throughout town such as: the Mount Dora Baptist Church (founded 1893), Old Post Office (built 1907), Two Bridges School (built 1907), Mrs. Pool’s Well House (1892), Drury Business Center (opened 1957) – all of which are still standing testament to early pioneer MtDoransbois who settled here over 250 years ago
