The Coast Guard has been providing safety and security for the citizens of Niceville, Florida since 1922. The Coast Guard's mission is to provide asafe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and commercial vessels while enforcing maritime law. In 1922, the Coast Guard was established in Niceville with the purpose of keeping local waters free from danger. Today, the Coast Guard continues its role as a vital member of society by performing many functions including patrolling the coastlines ofNicevilleand surrounding communities; rescuing individuals in distress; providing transportation support; conducting Search and Rescue operations; and providing humanitarian assistance. One of the most important aspects of the Coast Guards' job is providing gifts to people who have helped make their community a better place. The Niceville Coast Guard Station was established in 1946. It became a full-time coast guard station in 1969. The station is made up of four buildings: the Administration building, the Barracks, the Sgt. Majer’s Building and the Harbour Master’s Building.
Niceville is a small town in Alachua County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,013 at the 2010 census. Niceville is part of the Tallahassee–Milton–Ft. Walton Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was platted in 1885. The first settler in Niceville was John Hickey, who arrived on October 20, 1885 and built a cabin on what is now Old US- 31 near present day US-4 Business Loop Road. The name "Niceville" was given to the community by Captain W.H. Dixie of the USS Constitution which visited Gainesville on November 5, 1885 while en route to Jacksonville for naval maneuvers nearby.[1] Captain Dixie called Gainesville's natives "NICEVILLE" which means "Beautiful Place."[2] In 1897 Niceville had a post office with Mrs A Ransom as its first female clerk and mail carrier; it opened under the name of Indian Rocks but changed its name to Pleasant Hill soon thereafter because residents there considered Indian Rock too far from their homes and preferred to be closer to family members and friends instead of away from such commercial activity.[3] In 1912pleasant hill Post Office closed due to lack of customers; however, local citizens gathered enough signatures on a petition asking for the reopened post office to reopen that it did so two years later with Mrs Lillian Eilers as its first female Postal Service Manager.[4] From 1916 until 1959 the mailing address for Niceville residents was First National Bank Building (now NW Third Street); however since then many residents have moved away from downtown into newer areas within walking distance both eastward along Second Street along I-10 West towards Lake Wales and northwestward alongNW Third Street out into rural Alachua County near present day Enterprise Boulevard (formerly US 1). Residents currently distribute their mail through USPS facilities located in Northwest Tallahassee,[5][6][7][8][9] although some parcels do still reach Niceville via express service operated by Pima Air Lines out of Phoenix Arizona or FedEx Express services out of Memphis Tennessee (although all three services offer same shipping rates).

In 2017, the Coast Guard began giving away smartphones known as “GCAS” or “Gatekeepers of Coastal Areas.” These phones are designed to give users access to various functions that can help improve their coastal security awareness and protection. The most recent gift from the Coast Guard is an iPad air purifier known as an "Air Purifier for Your Home." This product was purchased at a charity event on January 25th 2018 in New York City in support of Hurricane Florence relief efforts.

Niceville is a city in the county of Hillsborough, Florida and the largest such municipality in the state. The population was 21,569 at the 2010 census. Niceville's history can be traced back to 1892 when it was founded as a small community called "New Port Royal". It grew rapidly during World War II as airfields were built in and around the town, and became a major military center for the war effort. After the war, Niceville experienced rapid growth as new businesses arrived and residents moved into its expanding neighborhoods. Today, Niceville is an important cultural and commercial center in Florida with active nightlife and shopping districts.
On November 3, 1848, a group of Englishman named the Buccaneers established a small outpost on what is now Niceville in central Florida. The Buccaneers were quickly expelled from their new location by Seminoles and abandoned the land. A few months later, Spanish settlers arrived in what is now Niceville and began to build a small town. The town was founded on the site of today's Niceville Mall and was first known as San Fernando de la Vega. On October 14, 1849, Santiago de Cuba sent an expedition led by Father Francisco Xavier Alvarez to explore the area around Niceville. After reaching within one league (approximately three miles) of the town, they perceived it to be uninhabitable and returned home without exploring any further. In 1855, railroad construction began through central Florida and soonNiceville became a major rail stop for travelers heading eastward from Jacksonville. In 1861, Confederate forces invaded Florida during the American Civil War and invading Union forces burned down much of San Fernando de la Vega before retreating. The town slowly recovered after the war ended and regained its original name - San Fernando de la Vega - in 1865 when Spanish-American War veterans arrived in search of new homes in Central America.
