Today, North Miami Beach enjoys a highly diverse community which includes many professionals, retirees, families with children or grandchildren living here full time or semi-full time as well as students from surrounding universities like USF and FIU who attend nearby schools such as UMBC or USMLEX respectively. There are also numerous shoppers Downtown all weekend long during Fall/Winter/" Winterfest" events including "Lemon Drop Festival", "Christmas Parade" main street (Cotton candy truck), carnival games etc... Saturday night has always been considered "Boys Night Out" with local bars hosting dances late into the night for pre-teens/teenagers looking for some excitement before school starts in Monday morning...and yes you can find all sorts of cars parked along South State Street between First Avenue West & Second Avenue until about 2am each weekends just waiting for their turn on top of those big orange cones!

North Miami Beach is an unincorporated community located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. As of the 2010 census, its population was 8,571. North Miami Beach is bordered by the communities of Biscayne Bay to the north and west, Everglades National Park to the east, and South Beach to the south. The town was founded in 1922 as a result of an effort by a group of civic leaders led by Mayor Harry Bendix to create a 'burb' around what they saw as potential development opportunities on Little Haiti Street between Third and Fourth Streets. The first store in North Miami Beach opened in 1922 and local businessmen began buying land surrounding it for housing and commercial development. By 1928, there were over 20 businesses in town with 1,500 residents. In 1932, Mayor Harry Bendix funded the construction of two libraries which became integral parts of NorthMiami Beach's cultural landscape. In 1965, following annexation by South beach into Miami-Dade County, NorthMiami Beach's boundaries expanded once again to include both areas - making it one of only a handful towns in Florida that have both rural (northwest) and urban (south) boundaries. Today, NorthMiami Beach remains an important community with its mix of old-fashioned values like independent family life and smalltown charm combined with modern amenities including beacheside restaurants and shopping malls nearby. It also has some unique features such as its own post office which still operates today (the last post office in Broward County closed in 2013).
The North Miami Beach area was first settled in the early 1800s. The first home built in this area was a log cabin called "Hollow Fence" which was located on the corner of NW 79th and NW 2nd Streets. In 1835, the area became part of Dade County and was designated as the north side of Miami. A post office was established at North Miami Beach in 1837, and saw growth until it closed in 1917. In 1849, a group of Cuban immigrants who had just come to America arrived at North Miami Beach and started fishing for lobster. They soon realized that there were no local resources to provide them with food, so they began cultivating crops and raising livestock. By 1865, they had developed a small town named Havana on the east side of Northwest Second Street between NE 71st Avenue and NE 80th Avenue. North Miami Beach experienced its biggest growth period during World War II when many Atlantans volunteered to fight in the war effort. Many businesses were created during this time including Pimento Cheese Company (now Kraft Foods), American Motors Corporation (now Chrysler), United States Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton (later Camp Pendleton USMC) and much more. A post office reopened at North Miami Beach on December 1, 1941 afterbombing Pearl Harbor killed over 120 people including Mayor James Totten along with most of his staff members – one reason why today's street name is Memorial Drive rather than NW 79th Street or NE 2nd Street. The population increased rapidly due to wartime employment opportunities as well as new construction projects such as Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport which opened in 1946 adjacent to the beachfront town line.. For many years following World War II there was little development taking place within North Miami Beach limits; however, over recent years activity has begun To increase significantly with several high-rise buildings being constructed nearby including Trump National Golf Club Jupiter Hills clubhouse which overlooks both beaches - making it one of South Florida's most popular tourist destinations
