For over a century, North Palm Beach has been a military town. The area now known as North Palm Beach was first settled by the Seminole Indian tribe in the early 1800s. In 1836, General James K. Polk approved plans to build and equip a military brigade in North Palm Beach. The brigade became known as Florida's 1st Infantry Regiment and was active during the Mexican-American War and American Civil War. In 1898, after Florida gained its independence from Spain, the Fort Myers post office was established in North Palm Beach. The post Office moved to its current location in 1901. In 1907, Military Camp Polk (later Camp Dade) was built near what is now South Boulevard and Park Avenue. This camp served as an artillery training ground for Florida's National Guard until it was disbanded in 1942. During World War II, North Palm Beach played an important role in the war effort by providing servicemen with food, housing and other supplies necessary for their deployments overseas. From 1941 through 1945, North Palm Beach contributed more than 3 million pounds of food to Allied forces around the world! The post-war years saw growth for North Palmbar when many businesses opened up including restaurants like Olive Garden and Red Lobster; however, some of those businesses closed down during the economic recession of the 1990s which affected all aspects of local life such as job losses and falling property values throughout much of south central Florida

North Palm Beach is a town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 11,813 at the 2010 census. North Palm Beach is part of the Miami metropolitan area. It is bordered by Boynton Beach to the east and west, West Palm Beach to the north, Coconut Creek to the south and Boca Raton to the southeast. The first European settlers in what is now NorthPalmBeach were Englishmen who arrived in 1768 as part of an expedition led by Captain James Cook on his third voyage through South America. They named their new land "North Palm Beach" after their home country of England. In 1819, two Dutch brothers purchased land adjacent to present-day NorthPalmBeach from British investors for $5 per acre (1/3 of a hectare). They named their land "Wetlands Bay." In 1881, a group of Norwegian immigrants began settling in NorthPalmBeach and founded Aasgaard Farms which still operates today as one of the largest vegetable farms in Southwest Florida. The town's first post office opened in 1892. By 1900, there had been enough growth within the community that it became necessary for a public school district and a fire station were both built that year - also becoming operational that year was North Palms Business Park which remains one of downtown North Palm Beaches' most popular tourist destinations today! In 1924, numerous citrus fruits were grown here including oranges, lemons and grapefruit; this helped make North Palmyer one of SouthFlorida's leading citrus counties during those years! In 1961-1966 several developments took place which changed how people lived and worked here - these being: construction of Interstate 95 (now US 1), opening up much needed real estate values within minutes or seconds once it hitthe market; addition of several large Chain stores such as JCPenney (North Palmbreville)and Sears Roebuck & Co.; finally becoming eligible for cityhood status following passage by referendum vote overwhelmingly supporting it! This gave rise to many names given to different sections or neighborhoods within our Municipality over time: University Heights neighborhood; Downtown neighborhood; Original districts/neighborhoods established prior to its cityhood designation - alluding back to when development boundaries lay largely devoid of commerce Boulevard Strip Plaza business park located off US 1 just outside City limits until recently undeveloped industrial areas bordering I-95 redevelopment including shopping malls anchor locations along Broward Blvd between Military Highway / Sunrise Boulevard exits near Stonington Mall ; Kmart Corporate Center immediately adjacent thereto (opened 1959) ; current day Main Street / Borough Avenue corporate boundaries
On November 3, 1912, North Palm Beach became the municipality of Palm Beach County. The original town was established on a small island just north of the current city limits by local landowners and businessmen. In 1916, construction began on what would become North Palm Beach's first courthouse and jail. In 1925, the county seat was moved from West Palm Beach to North Palm Beach due to population growth in that area. On July 1, 1928, North Palm Beach annexed adjoining towns of Boynton Beach and Boca Raton. The area now known as South Florida was acquired by the United States from Great Britain as part of World War II military land acquisition program. On October 15, 1945, South Florida became an official U.S. state when President Harry S Truman signed legislation creating it from parts of Pinellas and Broward counties.
