The area then became part of the Kingdom of Spain because that was where all land south of Key Largo lay. In 1835, the U.S. government acquired all land east of Biscayne Bay when it bought Floridian land from Spain during the Seminole Wars; this included most of what is now NorthPort including present-day Executive Boulevard (which still bears the name "Boulevard de la Conchita"). In 1898–99 Wernher von Braun shipped his rocket ship Invincible II from Kiel to Miami Beach for a series of launches culminating with a successful launch on April 17, 1899 which brought international attention to space travel as demonstrated by newspapers such as Time Magazine and American Aviation Monthly magazine. This event helped spur development in nearby Miami Beach as well as Kiawah Island into one of America's leading aviation companies during World War II due to military contracts related to aircraft production at plants in Plantation and Kendall Counties east of downtown Miami Beach

It was named after the port on Long Island where they had been living for several years before moving to Pensacola in 1881. In 1893, the first post office opened in Northport and remained open until it closed on December 31, 1903. The first school was built in Northport in 1895 and operated until 1912. The first doctor in Northport was Dr. H C Bogert who served from 1907-1912 In 1915, North Port became home to America's second military airfield during World War I when it became known as "Alaska Air Field". In 1942, it became an R-36A base under USAAF control while also serving as a submarine base during World War II After World War II ended,NorthPort began experiencing rapid growth as a result of its location at Turnpike 95/UAHwy 95 business district between Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach In 1964-1965 Hurricane Andrew struck the area causing significant damage including flooding that destroyed many homes along with businesses and schools In 1985-1986 PCL Inc., owner of Pan American World Airways' Jacksonville Flight School located adjacent to Naval Air Station Mayport closed operations due to low passenger traffic; however PCL reopened within months with new name Gulf Airways Aviation School . Pan American closed again 5 years later due to lack of demand from students; however this time Gulf reopenedigation under new ownership which kept Pan American out of operation for 8 years before finally closing permanently in 1999
In 1837, the first steamboat from Pensacola, Florida reached North Port. The ship was named the brig General Jackson and it carried passengers to Mobile Bay for shipment to New Orleans. In 1840, a wharf was built at North Port by Captain John Smith. This wharf became the arrival point for vessels traveling between Pensacola and Tampa Bay. By 1846, the town of North Port had a population of 150 people and a post office. In 1849, a canal was built linking Tampa Bay with Pensacola through Northport. This canal made it possible for goods to be transported from Tampa Bay to Pensacola without having to go through Mobile Bay
