In Oakland Park, Florida, the history of coffee is entrenched in the community. The first coffee shop was opened in 1922 by Harry J. Wexler and his wife Florence. It was a small, operations-based business that served two cups of coffee each morning to local residents. The popularity of espresso soon spread throughoutOakland Park and other communities in Duval County because it could be easily brewed at home on an electric stovetop. In 1929, Luigi Batali started selling espresso beans from his grocery store in downtown Oakland Park. This began the popularization of espresso as a beverage enjoyed by people throughout Jacksonville and Duval County. In the early 1960s, Donny Wolk founded Donny's Coffee Shop & Diner in downtown Oakland Park and quickly became known for its excellent lattes and smooth cappuccinos. Over time, Donny's became one of the most popular venues for coffee lovers throughout Jacksonville and Duval County. Oakland Park is located in the Lee County, Florida panhandle. The population was 5,879 at the 2010 census. The town of Oakland Park was founded in 1892 by Wm. H. Arnold and his wife Sarah Ketchum Arnold. It became a city in 1907 and was named for General James O'Hara, who fought in the Seminole War. In 1912, Oakland Park established a library which still exists today as the first public library west of the Mississippi River. The city of Jacksonville annexed Oakland Park in 1916. In 1922, Jacksonville built a new courthouse on State Road 498 east of downtown and called it "Jacksonville City Hall." Eventually, both cities merged to form Jacksonville-Oakland Park Municipal Utility District (JAXPUD) with an original land value of $2 million dollars ($102 million now). In 1986, JAXPUD voted to change its name to "Oakland Park Municipality". The municipality has since conducted many special events such as biannual Taste of Oakton event and held various other functions including elections every four years; however, its primary purpose is currently economic development through its several businesses that have been established within the municipality including: business park; retail shopping center; apartments; office buildings; golf course/piste de golfe; waterpark & aquariums (all operated by local government); and an arena constructed specifically for professional soccer matches between hometown club FC Jacksonville and visiting MLS teams New England Revolution or LA Galaxy II.
Oakland Park, Florida is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,890 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The community was named for General James K. Polk, who served as president from 1845 to 1849 and as military governor ofFlorida during the Second Seminole War. A post office called Oakland Park was established in 1892, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1951.

The coffee industry has been around for centuries, and some of the earliest traces of coffee can be found in Ancient Greece. In fact, coffee is thought to have originated in India. The first written record of coffee was from an ancient Egyptian document that mentions a drink called Koffee. Coffee was then traded between different parts of the world and it wasn't until the 16th century that espresso became popularized as a beverage. However, it wasn't until 1790 that French entrepreneurs started trading coffee beans with Dutch traders in Batavia, Indonesia. Over time, many other countries began to trade with Java and even exported coffee to Europe. In 1847, Swiss caffeine entrepreneur Pierre-Simon Laplace came up with the idea for what would become known as espresso. He wanted to create a drink that could be enjoyed by people of all ages and he named it after his own father – Pierre-Simon Laplace Coffee (Espresso). In 1853, Laplacian Café opened its doors at 5 rue de la Paix in Paris and quickly became one of the most popular cafes on French soil. It continued to serve high quality espresso drinks until 1971 when it closed its doors due to budget cuts within Laplacian’s management team
Oakland Park, Florida was founded in 1892 by J.P. Morgan and his partners George Bancroft and Arthur Stokes. The town was named after the Oakland Oaks, a grove of oak trees that were located near Jacksonville, Florida. The area had been inhabited for centuries by Seminoles and Native Americans. In 1892, Morgan bought land in what is now Oakland Park from the Indian tribe of Seminole Nation. He began to develop the area into a fashionable community with brick buildings and well-maintained streets. By 1922, there were over 100 homes in the town and it had a population of 500 people. In 1927, Morgan sold his property to Harry S Truman who made it his home until he moved to Washington D.C., in 1978. In 1933, Henry Ford donated land to the town for a new high school which was built onsite at present day Woodward Avenue and Schaefer Road. The school has been attended by students from all over America ever since. In 1937, during World War II, Oakland Park served as an airfield for USAAF Nightingale Flying Training School No. 1 which operated out of nearby Andrews Air Force Base
