The history of the navy in Ocala, Florida goes back to the early 1800s. The first naval units were raised in this area during the American Revolution, and throughout the 19th century, military service by the local militia was a regular feature of life for many residents. In 1885, an ordinance was passed allowing for Naval stores to be established at Fort Marion. This allowed for networking between the navy and other branches of government, as well as providing necessary supplies and equipment to our military men and women. In World War II, Ocala played a vital role in both naval operations on land and sea. More than 4500 citizens served in our armed forces; most serving tours lasting less than three months. After World War II ended, many jobs within the Navy were eliminated or became more difficult to obtain due to budget cutsbacks. However, over time some new positions have been created within our military forces including: shipbuilder’s mate (naval vessel builder), petty officer (watercraft operator), aviationman (aircraft mechanic), electronic warfare specialist/mechanical engineer/fire control technician/seaman 3rd class (Navy submarines), chief petty officer 2nd class (Navy helicopters) – all with experience working on warships of various types! Today there are approximately 10 percent Navy civilian employees within our department! Today’s navy is diverse with capabilities that extend beyond traditional maritime activity into furthering United States interests around the world. We serve through education and outreach programs addressing global issues such as climate change awareness; ocean conservation; drug trafficking prevention; disaster relief assistance; human rights promotion; international law enforcement training opportunities for local law enforcement officers from around the world….and much more! Ocala, Florida is a city located in the panhandle of Florida. The population was 859 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat for Marion County and is bounded by Hardee County to the north, Indian River County to the east, Escambia County to the south and west, and Calhoun County to the northwest. Ocala is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration which begins on October 5th and lasts through October 10th. The history of Ocala can be traced back to 1835 when John C. Frémont founded Jacksonville on this site as a military post during his attempt to explore what lay beyond Mexico's border. In 1847, Henry Flagler purchased 3,200 acres of land in Marion County from David Livingstone for $2 million dollars. Flagler named his new town after himself – Ocala – an early Spanish name meaning "place where coconuts are grown."Flagler developed a commercial district around his town that became known as "the heart of Florida". By 1860, almost one-half of all acreage in Marion had been sold in connection with development around Ocala; more than two-thirds of all cotton production took place here until 1913.After World War I came into force America's entry into World War II; American forces began moving into Europe first but soon were sent home because Of combat wounds or decimated numbers within their own countrymen who had not served abroad like their brothers-in-arms overseas! After VE Day (April 1945), General MacArthur moved his headquarters from Tokyo Bay to MacArthur Barracks #5 on US Army property just outside of downtown Ocala so that he could continue conducting United States military operations against Japan rather than withdrawing back upriver towards Seoul! On December 7th 1946 local citizens elected James Mascarenhas as Mayoralty over incumbent George Stephenson by a wide margin due largely to public pressure brought about by demonstrations surrounding MacArthur's presence!Mascarenhas quickly put together an impressive City Council which included future mayors Harnett Claypool (1948–1951), Donnie Lee White (1957–1959), Coleman Young (1969–1972) and Billy Turner (1974–1977). Afterwards Mascarenhas focused upon developing various aspects such as economic development including creating jobs through industrial marketing programs while also working diligently towards improving schoolhouse facilities throughout town!

Ocala, Florida is a city in the U.S. state of Florida and the county seat of Marion County. Ocala was founded on November 3, 1835 by General John C. Gaines as the new town on the Choctawhatchee River after he destroyed Fort Moultrie in Mobile, Alabama. The town quickly became a center for shipping and commerce on the St. Johns River, and it became known for its cotton plantations that produced crops such as rice, wheat, maize and tobacco. In 1837 Ocala received its first post office from Jacksonville; until that time all mail shipments had to be sent through Mobile or Pensacola because both cities were under military occupation at the time. The town's growth stalled during the American Civil War because of low demand for goods shipped downriver from Confederate-occupied Tennessee and Georgia until 1865 when Union munitions production began upriver in nearby Tampa Bay. Reconstruction followed with many African Americans moved into jobs in local businesses such as Combined Cannery Company which prospered during this period called "The Great Migration." By 1920 Ocala had reached its current size with over 100,000 residents within city limits and 30 miles of Jacksonville along Interstate 441
In 1827, the Micmac people migrated from their original land in Nova Scotia to what is now Ocala. They began trading with other Native Americans, and soon learned to cultivate corn and beans on the new land. The Micmac were also skilled hunters and fishermen, and they developed a strong trade relationship with the Spanish. In 1838, the United States acquired Florida from Spain as part of the Treaty of Paris. The Seminole Tribe continued to live in Florida until 1898 when they were forcibly removed by U.S. forces under General Manuel López de Santa Clara.
