The Coast Guard in Ocoee, Florida has been providing service to the community since 1881. The Coast Guard provides law enforcement and emergency services, conducts searches for missing persons, responds to accidents and emergencies, and helps provide coastal security. The Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded in 1922 as a volunteer organization of citizens who wanted to help the Coast Guard. The Auxiliary is responsible for many aspects of the Coast Guard such as providing manpower and resources to support missions outside of Jacksonville. In 1951, the Auxiliary became a full-time agency with its own budget. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard has made donations to numerous organizations both within Jacksonville and beyond. These donations have helped make a difference in the lives of individuals and families living on or near Jacksonville’s coastline. One such donation was the acquisition of an original Sea Dog helicopter from Grumman Aircraft Corporation in 1974; this helicopter still serves as part of today’s coast guard fleet. In 1997, the United States Congress passed legislation honoring heroes from both World War II and current conflicts around the world by passing H.R. 6992 which renamed NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory “Coastal Security Research Laboratory (CSRL)” in memory of Rear Admiral John Wightman RN (USCG). This donation marks another important milestone for CSRL as it becomes home to one of America’s most active coastal security research programs – working together with partners throughout North America and Europe on projects that protect our coasts from terrorism, piracy, storm damage, earthquake hazards, and more!

Ocoee is a town in Volusia County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,871 as of the 2000 census. Ocoee is part of the Daytona Beach–Ormond Beach–Lake Wales Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white person to set foot on what is now Ocoee Peninsula was Captain John Stevens in 1784. By 1815, a post office had been established at present-day Ocoee with the name "Creek". In 1854, Creek land was patented to General James E. Butler and named Butler's Bayou after him. In 1886, an act to create Miami County was approved by the Florida General Assembly and became effective on January 1, 1886. On November 16th of that year residents of Ocoee voted to annex onto Miami County and changed their town name from "Creek" to "Ocoee". On December 21st 1907 a tornado touched down near Morningside Heights and destroyed or damaged many homes in what would become known as the "Ocoee Tornado". More than $1 million worth of damage was done including 600 homes that were completely destroyed or mutilated. A total of 86People were injured which included 27 women and 7 children who lost both parents in the storm. In 2007-2008 Hurricane Allen caused extensive damage throughout much of central Florid

Ocoee, Florida is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1881 by two brothers, John and George O'Keefe. It is named after Indian Chief Ocoee and his wife Coachella. In 1969, Ocoee was the site of the first successful human-powered powered airplane flight over Lake Michigan. The original airport opened in 1929 and served as a base for military operations during World War II before becoming a commercial airport. In 1995, the airport closed following costly renovations which removed most of its runways and buildings; however, it reopened as an airfield known today as "John F Kennedy International Airport". The town currently has only one business street: Main Street. There are no public schools in Ocoee; all students attend private schools within Polk County or elsewhere outside of town. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land.
