The history of the United States Air Force deployment gift history in Oldsmar, Florida can be traced back to World War II. The Oldsmar Air National Guard detachment was established on December 15, 1942 as a result of the need for air defence in the area during World War II. The first unit Deployed was Company B of the 2d Bombardment Group stationed at Dowling Field. With over 1,000 men and women active duty in Oldsmar at the time, it is no wonder that this community played an important role in helping support America's war effort. The detachment served with distinction throughout World War II and into the Korea conflict. After the war ended, many members of Company B were called home to serve again in various capacities within the USAF until they were disbanded on September 30th, 1957. However, some detachments remained active through reserve status until they were discontinued effective May 25th, 1970 when ADC terminated all military service by Reserve Officers Corps (ROcc). In 1987, when Oldsmar city council decided to rename its downtown square "Air Force Square", Mayor Joe Vacarino spearheaded a campaign to bring attention to this important community resource. Using public funds and private donations together, he managed to purchase heritage Land from USAA which housed what would become Air Force Square Park. Since its dedication on November 6th, 1987 it has been a place where citizens and military can come together for picnics or just have a general conversation about their favorite branch of service. Today there are multiple restaurants and stores located around Air Force Square Park as well as several dozen pieces of donated property that make up what today is known as "Oldsmar's Army Garrison". Today there are more than 3000 active duty members assigned to 993 units located worldwide including 318 stationed here at Oldsmar AFB! The United States Armed Forces remain our most vibrant community partner ever!

Oldsmar, Florida is a town in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The St. Johns River forms its eastern border and flows through its center. The first Europeans to visit Oldsmar were Captains James Cook and John Hawkins on their way to found what is now Australia in 1770. They left letters for the local Indian leader, Tecumseh, which was published in 1811 by Captain John Stokes when he visited Oldsmar with his fleet of HMS "Eagle". In 1836, General Andrew Jackson moved his army from Pensacola to Mobile Bay to fight against Seminole Indians led by Manuel Latimer. Atlatl (a stone weapon type) was used as an instrument of war because it could be thrown like a catapult and then hit its target more than 100 feet (30 m). General Jackson's troops built Fort Walton on a small island near present-day Oldsmar after they captured the fort at Tallahassee on December 13, 1835 from the Seminoles under Troupeskee Creek massacre raiders led by Colonel Elias Boudinot. Oldsmar became a stopping point for stage coaches betweenJacksonville and Tampa via Mobile Bay during the 1850s when railroadroads reached that region; today all but one track remain in place within city limits only along State Road A1A which parallels US-1/US-9 running through downtown east to west; much of downtown has been demolished during development over time including most of original structures dating back to pre-Civil War days including courthouse (1799), post office (1856), Masonic Lodge #2 (1876), Baptist Church #3 (1882), private home owned by Mrs. Henson Crayton who resided there until her death in 1978; school District No.(1910) – now Clearwater City Schools while portions of Railroad Avenue NE have been redeveloped into commercial property leased out as transient housing called “Downtown Development” since 2000 renamed “New Orleans Row” following Hurricane Katrina; many homes located along First Street NE facing Gulfstream Park are no longer liveable due to subsidence caused by Mitchell Beazley Dam aging and lack of maintenance according to some tour guides testimony dating back several decades ago originally recorded on video tape taken inside park thru an opening still extant in roofline above ground level providing views down onto river below The first settler arrived about 1800 northwest corner Of Second Street North And Third Street South In Present day Jacksonville Landing By Nicholas Weisman From Holland America On April 5th 1800 Many persons came That Day Some Of whom Were: Daniel Cramer Headed North To Look For Land & Also With Other Men His Wife Margaret Who Wrote This Account & Signed It As follows: - land Coming Along Side 3 Streets Named So After The Directions Given Us - Nicholas Weisman Started Out From Where We Are Now Near Northeast Corner Of Main Street Northeast And Fourth Street West And Got As far Northwest As Third Street South Then He Stopped & Said Our Land Was Taken But We Would Like To Resettle Here Individually So I Continued Looking For More Land Which I Found About Four Miles Beyond What You Saw Today Next Door To Me There Was A Village Called Eau Gallie Which Is Now gulfport

Oldsmar is a city in County Wexford, Ireland. It is located on the River Shannon and has a population of over 100,000 people. The town was founded by the English in 1814 as Athlone. Athlone grew rapidly and became an important commercial center during the 19th century due to its location on the River Shannon. In 1859, Oldsmar amalgamated with other towns in County Wexford to form a new county, renamed Wexfordshire. By 1907, most of what is now Oldsmar had been annexed by the City of Miami Beach in South Florida. However, Oldsmar retained some vestiges of its Irish identity and kept its name until it changed it back to Athlone in 1960. The old bridge over the Shannon that links Athlone with Miami was also preserved and currently resides within Oldsmar's boundaries
