Opa Locka is located on U.S. 1, six miles east of Downtown Miami and adjacent to Biscayne Park andMiami International Airport. The community's name is derived from the Okeechobee Indian word "opalachia," meaning "place where cotton grows." The first settler arrived in 1892 and named their farm after General James H. Grant's plantation near present day Fort Lauderdale – Opaloca then being spelled "Opa" because there were no post office buildings in that area at that time. In 1904, a group of men from Opa Locka founded what would become Lakeland Civic Association which voted to form its own city government four years later on November 3rd, 1907 with Mayor JF Gasson as its first mayor and fifty nine residents voting against it due to lack of support from other municipalities within Dade County at the time including Hollywood and Sunrise Beach which had already formed their own cities by this time (though Sunrise Beach would merge into Miami in 1959). In 1915 City Councilman WN Weems moved his office back to City Hall one block south of Main Street resulting in the current site fronting US 1 where City Hall now stands (the building also housed county government until it moved into new facilities on Lincoln Road across from Evergreen Mall in 2006). On October 15th 1928 Hurricane Floyd struck Opa Locka killing fourteen people when it swept through the communitymostly farmers out picking cotton who lost all their crops) makingOpaloca one of only two communities directly hit by a hurricane during Floyd's devastating Category 5 storm surge - though both addresses sustained minor damage beyond routine power outages; additionally both Sunrise Beach & Hollywood were damaged by Floyd but not Opaloca although both communities eventually regained power soon after landfall while Fort Lauderdale did not regain services until September 9th following widespread electrical outages throughout most of South Florida due largely to Irma - thus leaving most Floridians without electricity for over twentyfour hours during some portions of landfall - much like Hurricane Harvey did weeks later much closer to home on August 29th & 30th 2017 Two days after landfall FEMA declared an emergency state due predominatelyto flooding caused by high winds & debris aftermaths including homes destroyed or damaged beyond repair; general stores closed down overnight as well as many churches rendering services unavailable for those unable or unwilling evacuate; however despite this curfew many people chose to stay behind rather than leave their homes under siege having little alternative given coming conditions outside remained extremely dangerous with few resources available inside opaloca just days prior AFP photographer Herb Craddock chronicling life inside makeshift shelters just outside city limits; today opaloca remains one Of America’s poorest towns with median household income hovering around $27K annually barely scraping by despite over 60% Hispanic population

Roasting method was used for two primary reasons: To increase flavor profile and to reduce caffeine levels which helped preserve quality control during manufacturing process In 1898-1900 American chemist Edwin Land patented his discovery of chlorogenic acid – which is responsible for most of the taste attributed to espresso after its introduction into popular culture by Italian journalist Gioacchino Rossini film composer Antonio Vivaldi in 1881 . After World War I Germany developed an artificial hot water extraction process that resulted in lower quality brews being exported worldwide while better quality coffees were domestically produced However much later Brazilian entrepreneur Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva came up with what is considered to be one of the most groundbreaking business plans ever put together – he envisioned creating a national grocery store system where consumers could purchase all types of food products including coffee – something no other country had attempted before Lula's plan quickly went viral across Brazil; eventually resulting in him becoming president of Brazil twice Coffee started reaching more people all over the world through mail order franchises such as Starbucks ; however many African Americans did not have access these services until well into the 21st century
