The ship was transferred to the Naval Station at Goodspeed Bay, Newfoundland on May 16, 1945 and renamed Philippine Navy Ship Manila (PF-1). On October 10, 1951, the ship was redesignated PCS Miami and placed into service with the United States Coast Guard. She served as an escort vessel for American ships during Operation Neptune’s Spear which aimed to stop North Korean forces from crossing the 38th parallel into South Korea. On November 5, 1961 she collided with another U. S. Coast Guard Cutter while patrolling off shore of Key Largo Beach in Florida Keys. On January 25, 1970 she was reclassified as a aided container carrier PCS Fort Lauderdale (CGN-2). In addition to her traditional cargo duties she became a floating casino and has been used both for commercial operations and military exhibitions. In 1984 she suffered damage when Hurricane Andrew hit Florida Keys and was abandoned by her crew until 1992 when they managed to tow her back to port where she received new repairs and returned to service under her original name of PCS Miami again. The ship has also done stints as a training vessel for law enforcement officers throughout the area. On September 1st 2006 PCS Miami towed USS Jacksonville (LPD-5) back across Lake Pontchartrain after it had become stranded near New Orleans following Katrina’s landfall in Gulf coast Louisiana on August 29th2006

Opa Locka is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 27,711 at the 2010 census. Opa Locka is the second largest city in Miami-Dade County and one of its most populous cities. It is located on the eastern edge of the county, between Miami and Broward counties. That same year, Opal Stadium opened as part of a $130 million redevelopment effort that included new housing, retail stores, restaurants and other businesses along with a new sport complex including a football stadium and soccer field. The project also included extensive paving and street construction that improved public transportation access and created numerous jobs for local residents. In 2007, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced plans to build an additional high school within the city limits - Opal High School - which would serve students from both communities together but only generate tax revenue for Opal City while still providing opportunities for students to attend high school close to home without having to leave their families or neighborhoods. This plan met opposition from many residents who felt that such a large school would strangle small towns like Opal in their development potential; however, Mayor Villaraigosa made good on his pledge to build the school after being re-elected in 2009 by wide margins. According to Forbes Magazine's 2014 list of "The 25 Most Richest Cities In America", Opal ranks No. 2 behind Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex (the number one spot). With its rich history and vibrant culture dating back over 100 years, there are many attractions available for visitors within minutes' walk of downtown OPALincluding popular tourist destinations like Key West (just 10 miles away)and Fort Myers (15 miles away).
