The history of the Orlando Army National Guard is rich with stories of service and sacrifice. The unit was founded in 1907 as part of the Florida State Troopers organization and has served in various roles throughout its history. Today, the Orlando Army National Guard operates under the command of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Today, the Orlando Army National Guard employs more than 4,000 soldiers and airmen who serve in many different roles across Central Florida. In addition to their military duties, members also offer a wide range of services to local communities through volunteerism and community outreach programs. One significant milestone for the OrlandoArmyNationalGuard was its deployment to Afghanistan in 2001. This service provided valuable experience that helped mold our Soldiers into patriots who are committed to serving their country fully today. As we enter another decade strong, I am proud to see our Soldiers continue to put their lives on hold for our country - no matter what it may be!

Army Deployed Gift History goes back to World War I. At that time, the armed forces were separate from the civilian population and there was no way for soldiers to buy gifts for their loved ones. As a result, many soldiers would gift their friends and family members items like cigarettes, cigars, or rifles. These gifts were often given as a reprisal for some sort of injustices or negligence on the part of the soldier's unit. Over time, Army Deployed Gift History has evolved into what it is today- an annual tradition in which military personnel and their families receive unique gift baskets filled with delicious snacks, drinks, and jewelry from local businesses and individual donors. This year's event will take place on Saturday, December 1st at The Benares in Arlington Virginia. There will be live music throughout the daylong festivities and all proceeds will benefit charities chosen by the event organizers.

After World War II, however, African Americans began to experience increasing social discrimination throughout Florida and Orange County. This led to large-scale protests and civil unrest that culminated in the 1969 riots that rocked Orange County. In response to these events, a series of ordinances were passed regulating public behavior within Orlando limits; this ultimately helped reduce violence and disorder over the next several decades. Today, tourism remains one of Orlando's most important economic sectors; consequently, it has worked to increase access to education opportunities for its citizens as well as provide more affordable housing options for those who live within its boundaries. Additionally, it has made efforts to developed new cultural programs that focus on promoting diversity among Ortolanians across all ages and backgrounds while honoring local heritage sites that are representative of Floridian history beyond just Jacksonville Beach or Daytona Beach
