In the early 1920s, Orlando was a small town of about 20,000 people. The population had grown to over 100,000 by the end of World War II. Shooting began to take off in the area after prohibition ended in 1933. In 1939, the first regulation-sized indoor shooting range open in Florida was opened at what is now Walt Disney World. By 1949, there were more than 400 shooting ranges across Florida and Georgia. One of the earliest shooters in Orlando was J.B. Lenox who opened his first gun store on West Orange Street in 1925. Other early shooters include Wm Hickey and Joe Dawson who operated a shotgun shop on Court Street from 1927 to 1938 and then another store on Main Street from 1938 to 1951 respectively. In 1952, Bob Kapp established the first law enforcement shooting range west of Atlanta when he opened a facility at South Parkway and State Road 727 near Stonington Beach, Florida (now part of Kissimmee). From 1953 through 1970 there were no restrictions on gun ownership or use within city limits; however, counties outside of Orlando started imposing their own regulations which caused many businesses within city limits to close down or move out due to difficult competition. In 1969, Mayor Buddy Dyer convened an emergency meeting with business owners and leaders in order to discuss ways that they could maintain limited access while still ensuring public safety; this led to passage of Ordinance No 3278 which restricted handgun possession within city limits but allowed concealed handgun permits for individuals over 25 years old if they had been employed by City Hall since December 1st preceding that date; this ordinance also exempted police officers from having any restrictions placed upon them pursuant to their officer powers as set forth under state law as it pertains thereto (i.e., authority granted pursuant to section 8-2a(a) of the Florida Statutes)). This ordinance effectively bans handguns from being possessed within city limits except for those issued with a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) which must be regularly renewed). A second ordinance passed later that year expands this restriction further by prohibiting firearms retailers within city limits from selling any type of firearm other than pistols/shotguns without prior written consent from their customers; these retailers must instead sell ammunition only (the sale and purchase of ammunition is exempt underOrdinance No 3331). Orlando, Florida is a city located in the state of Florida. As part or result of Hurricane Andrew which struck early August 1992 (the first major hurricane to hit Florida since 1900), downtown Orlando suffered extensive damage including loss or destruction of many businesses, most notably Sears Tower which collapsed resulting in $100 million in damages The city soon began its long journey back to recovered form Andrew with new development such as Regency Park (now Disney World) - home to Universal Studios Jurassic Park among other entertainment attractions - Occidental Boulevard between Second Street and Third Street becoming one continuous shopping district with more than 50 stores opened within two years following Andrew's landfall almost foursquare mile surface area had been completely restored by September 1998
