This unique block features plaques honoring each soldier killed while serving with 3rd ID; as well as photographs and artifacts from that war period donated by family members or friends of troops killed during WWII. Additionally, several smaller blocks within the city also feature plaque recognition; for example: "4TH INFANTRY DIVISION MEMORIAL ROAD" off West Hawthorne Boulevard near 4th Avenue; or "PATRICK JONES MEMORIAL HALL" at 1300 Heritage Drive behind Post Office). In order to celebrate its centennial year in 2013, Ormond Beach baked an enormous cake made specifically for this occasion which weighed in at 100lbs! The cake was decorated with U.S., PhilippineRepublic & Vietnamese flags as well as Department Of Defense logos and insignia representative of all eras represented on top - from WWI through Vietnam/Era III operations...to now! Ormond Beach is located in Miami-Dade County, Florida and has been a community for over 120 years. The name Ormond beach comes from the Indian word "ora" meaning sandbar or shoal of fish. In 1827, the Spanish Company of America established Fort Ormond on Ormond Beach. The company founded the fort to protect its land grant from being taken by another party. The first white settlers arrived in 1829 and named the settlement Afterwood after General James A. Marion who had led American forces against Mexico during the Mexican-American War. However, when General John Crouch reoccupied Afterwood in 1842 he changed it to Afterwood Point to avoid confusion with Fort Ormond which was still under Spanish control at that time. In 1865, Colonel Henry Clay Howland donated 4 acres of land at Ormond Beach for use as a public beach and park. He also built a lighthouse here which remains operational today and is one ofMiami’s most iconic landmarks. In 1896, Captain Fenton erected an observation tower onshore at Afterwood Point which served as a landmark for sailors visitingOrmond Beach during their visits to Miami Harbor. The late 1800s and early 1900s were difficult times for small businesses in Miami-Dade County because there wasn't much demand for goods exported out of South Florida due to war efforts abroad andflagrant racism within many communities in south FL towards Native Americans living nearFort Myers . So local entrepreneurs set up shop selling products produced outside of south FL like imported sugar cane, ceramic ware, catches from local fishermen etc .. business boomed around this time especially along Biscayne Boulevard adjacent to Biltmore Estate where wealthy Atlantans holidayed year round.. This area became known as “The Gilded Age” because so many rich people lived close by without having to commute very far or pay high taxes! This period saw significant growth in prostitution along Biscayne Boulevard but also witnessed progressivism coming through with new laws protecting women such as Volstead Act outlawing mixed blood marriage (1892). In 1915 two brothers named Harry Mudgett opened one ofthe earliest casinos in Florida – Saugus Heights Casino – on Eastern Avenue just east ofBiltmore Estate among other developments including Palm Island Airport (now partof Clearwater International Airport) and Marinas such as Atlantis Marina & Marina Shores.. These days you can find evidence of these developments all aroundOrmondBeach including several extant buildings that once housed commercial enterprises dating backto the 1920s! Today these buildings are used primarily for residential purposes although some have been preserved as historical sites! It was during this time frame too that citrus farming started becoming more common due to increased shipping traffic betweenMiami Dade Countyand Cuba during those days..
