Ormond Beach is a town in Orange County, Florida, United States. The population was 8,992 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Ormond Beach" comes from the Ormond Plantation which was near where the town now stands. The first coffee house in Ormond Beach opened in 1892 and it was located on State Road 400 just north of present-day Second Street. In 1903, Jiggs Coffee House became the first restaurant in town and served breakfast until 5pm. It burned down on December 5th, 1903 but this didn't stop customers from coming to eat at Jiggs until 1922 when they moved to their current location on Third Street East. Over time, more restaurants followed suit and by 1960 there were over 20 coffee houses operating within a five-mile radius of Ormond Beach proper. That same decade saw also significant growth for local food production with two wineries opening up within easy reach of townspeople - Moon & Sons Winery (now Quincey) on First Avenue North and Golden Gate Wine & Spirits Company (now Eldridge) on Fourth Avenue North - both established during Prohibition years when alcohol sales were limited to those who had a license from the state government. Today, both businesses still operate independently but are open seven days a week as part of an agricultural retail store chain called Fresh produce Incorporated which operates throughout central Florida including Ormond Beach., Vero Beach and Daytona Beach.. Ormond Beach's coffee history goes back even further; starting out as a small cluster of farmers' markets serving local roasts and beans direct to consumers – many times whole bean – all while remaining family-owned and operated until 1978 when Sunrise Coffee Corporation bought out all of its competitors including Jiggs Coffee House which closed its doors permanently that year along with most of their products representing more than 130 brands in total across three stores across Central Florida including one inside Disney World! In recent decades some notable firms that have set up shop here include Peet's Coffee & Tea (established 1981) which has since become one of Orlando's most iconic tourist destinations alongside Starbucks popular locations outside Disneyland Resort; Dunkin' Donutswhich relocated here from Lake Buena Vista after 28 years in Kissimmee; Boca Raton resident Bob Evans Restaurants who opened their first location here in 1984 followed by several other national chains like KFC®, Pizza Hut®, Wendy's®, Sonic Drive-In®and Dairy Queen® over time before moving into new properties nearby such as Universal Studios Hollywood Resort - home to plenty of theme parks attractions yet another addition to our growing list! Ormond Beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Florida, and its coffee history goes back to before the state even became a state. In 1892, two Italian immigrants named Angelo and Salvatore Lavallo opened a small coffee shop on Ormond Beach Boulevard. The Lavallos continued to sell their coffee until 1903, when they founded the Ormond Beach Coffee Company. The Ormond Beach Coffee Company was among the first commercial firms in Florida to roast their own beans. The company continued to operate until 1957, when it merged with another small business, the Atlantic Coffee Company. Since then, several different companies have operated under the name of Atlantic Coffee Company. These include: The Blue Bottle Coffee Co., Inc., which was founded in 1990; PNC National Bank's Ormond Beach branch (the first branch outside of Philadelphia); and finally First National Bank's current store on Gulf Drive located in downtown Ormond Beach (opened in 2013).
Ormond Beach, Florida is a small town located in Miami-Dade County,Florida. The population was 21,985 at the 2010 census. Ormond Beach is known for its wide variety of shopping and dining options as well as its historical attractions including the beach house and lighthouse. The history of Ormond Beach can be traced back to 1885 when Captain George Sutherland purchased property on Long Island Sound between Ormond Avenue and Third Street. In 1907, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton developed the present-day Ormond Beach area with their son John Wetherbee taking over management from his parents in 1931. Alongside retail development, the Fentons set out to revive an important fishing industry in which they had considerable involvement starting with a hatchery on Monroe Boulevard in 1922. Unfortunately, this effort failed to take hold until they built a new marina that became world-renowned and remains one of the most popular tourist destinations today. Construction began on what would become known as “The House” in 1951 following plans by local architect Everett Matson that were inspired by designs created for both Scotch Hall – an all-purpose entertainment hall located adjacent to The House – and Hialeah’s newly completed King Features Syndicate Building (now part of Hialeah Hospital). The foundation stone was laid by Mayor Robert Lovett on December 12th, 1951 during a special ceremony attended by dignitaries from across South Florida including Governor Manuel López de la Fuente and Admiral Chester Nimitz II himself! The original design featured handcrafted stuccoed plaster blocks framed internally by Anodized aluminum framing with rusticated oak veneers applied above it all resulting in an imposing yet stylish structure that still stands today (albeit without any windows!). After serving as homecoming center for students attending Stonington High School during renovations being carried out at nearby Dunedin High School at the time, The House served as the interim school administrative building from September 1st through May 31st each year until finally becoming operational on October 15th! In 1966, after years of lobbying by then Mayor Don Weisman who saw it as an opportunity to improve access to education for low-income citizens living along Flagler Boulevard south of I‑95 (at that point still called US 95), construction commenced on what would become known as “Weisman Gulffront High School” featuring state-of-the art facilities including: two football fields/courses; tennis courts; gymnasium; three science labs; five classrooms/ laboratories; six garages/workshop spaces; four water towers capable of holding up to 2 million gallons per minute each (!); sixty feet long sand dunes extending throughout portions thereof while also providing ample parking for approximately 500 cars!? A $40 million bond issue was passed authorizing further expenditures necessary for completion such as acquisition of land adjoining US 95 north of I‑95 (thus freeing up more contiguous parkland adjacent thereto) which included: three baseball diamonds totaling 6 acres total surface area with dimensions varying from 9 feet x 36 inches up to 86 feet x 96 inches]; two golf courses totaling 18 acres total surface area measuring 7 feet wide x 36 inches deep with dimensions varying from par 71 (+/- 3 yards) up to 556 (+/- 18 yards) yards wide × 96 inches]; both existing swimming poolsWillow Springs Aquatic Park & Jupiter Bayou will be replaced with one large heated pool measuring 328 square feet having unique features including rain gardens & waterfalls.; a performing arts center comprising eleven theaters seating 4200 spectators each which will feature live stage performances annually…and much MUCH more! Today's incarnation continues unchanged since its inception nearly fifty years ago - "The House" now serves not only function but pleasure too when hosting gatherings suchas weddings or other special events! The first residents of Ormond Beach were Native Americans who built their houses on the banks of the St Johns River in 1784. In 1885, John H. Beasley founded Beasley's lead mine and mill on US Highway 1A just east of Ormond Beach. The beache was named after Captain James Ayerbeare, owner of the brigantine USS Dolphin which sank near St Johns Bay in 1818 while exploring northern Florida. In 1922, General Harry Hughes set up a post office at Ormond Beach with his headquarters at Fort Myers (nowNaples), Florida and supplies from New York arrived by ship to supply U.S forces during World War I. The post office was moved to Ormond Beach in 1934 when it was renamed for Admiral David Dennison, who had served as Commandant of Marine Barracks San Diego before becoming Commandant of Naval Air Station Pensacola during World War II Ormond beach has been home to many businesses over time including: Albertsons anchor store (1927), Jiffy Lube (1939), Joe's Crab Shack (1984-present), White Sands Surf Shop (1976-1980) and Mrs Kapp's Bakery (1975-1996). It includes Ormond Beach and its outerlying communities of West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale. The first post office in Ormond Beach was established on May 16, 1892 by Lillie Purdy Richardson. The name "Ormond" was chosen because it lay near Jupiter Island inlet on the Atlantic Ocean. In 1916, Orlando's main airport was built here and Ormond became a suburb of Orlando proper; however, annexation by Palm Beach County continued to occur until 1959 when it became its own municipality with a mayor and council-manager form of government. Ormond beach has been called one of America's "charming small towns". As early as 1886 citrus growers had started developing land here for manufacture of oranges and other crops; now there are over 1 dozen businesses involved in various aspects of local economy including fishing (including several large marinas), retail sales (of both fresh produce and processed food items), automotive repairs/maintenance services (the largest being metal fabrication), law enforcement/firefighting services (included fire prevention patrols during hurricanes season), health care services (including 24-hour EMS coverage) as well as real estate development activities including homebuilding/repairing/renting as well as developments adjacent to or within walking distance of oceanfront properties which include high-end condominiums and luxury penthouses.
