The original orchard was located on what is now Northwest Fourth Street between Brickell Avenue and Waterfront Drive today. The City of Miami purchased additional land within the boundaries of Ormond Beach for use as their agricultural area starting in 1926. This growing citrus industry boomed during World War II due to increased demand from American troops stationed throughout Europe who were using oranges for war food supplies along with other fruit products like apples and grapes. After the war ended, however, production declined because of lack of available space to grow oranges again after being taken away from European growers during the war effort In 1948, Harry Fenton Ormond donation #1 totaling $2 million was made which funded much needed infrastructure improvements including: a new sewer system (1948), streetlights (1948), pavements (1950), public works department (1951), library (1953), water fowl release station (1959) – all just outside OfOrmondBeach’s current boundaries! From hereon out it would be known as “Harry Fenton Park” – making it one of only two cities in America that received this distinction! On October 15th 1960 another milestone occurred when Orange Coast Boulevard opened up within our borders giving us more access into downtown Miami proper without having to go throughbrawls over limited right-of-way!
