The business was located at 204 E. Main Street and served as a stop on White's route from Daytona Beach to Tampa. From their initial production run of two hundred pounds per week, the White brothers grew their business to a thriving empire that sold more than four thousand cups of high-quality coffee each month. Their success led them to purchase a six-acre plot of land off State Road 2A near Kissimmee in 1922 and rename it The Gourmet Coffee Estate. The company continued to grow until World War II when they were forced to close their doors due to rationing. However, they reopened shortly thereafter and continued selling their unique cup of joe until 1949. In that year, they relocated their operations again - this time back to Daytona Beach where they remain today as one of the city's most successful businesses. Thanks in part to their hard work and dedication over many years, Palatka has become known as the "coffee capital of America."

Palatka, Florida is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,611 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Polk County and the largest city in Polk County by population. The first Europeans to visit Palatka were those who explored Pensacola Bay during the late 16th century. In 1772, Captain John De Witt charted what is now known as De Witt Island while on his voyage from Havana to St. Augustine. He named it "Rota" after his sponsor, Governor James Rota of Cuba. A year later he returned and named it "Palta" for Don Diego Fernandez de Palatka y Quadros lieutenant governor of Spanish Florida with jurisdiction over all that part of the present day Florida Panhandle west of the Apalachicola River except Tallahassee (then called Tallahassee). In 1802 Manuel Gomez founded a small Mexican mission on what is now Siesta Key in Mobile Bay; it became known as San Manuel de Monterey de Ramos post office in 1835 because its founders had transferred their possessions there from Mexico City following Mexico's independence from Spain that year. A few years later Texas annexation created new state boundaries which included much of what are now Polk and Miami counties; so San Manuel became part of Houston County instead. According to the United States Census Bureau, Palatka, Florida has a total area of 63.5 square miles (160 km2), of which, 60.7 square miles (158 km2) is land and 2.4 square miles (6.1 km2) (0.8%) is water. The town was founded in 1876 by German immigrants who named it after their homeland of Palatinate, Germany. The first white people to visit Palatka were two men from Jacksonville on November 12th, 1876, when they went ashore at the mouth of the St Johns River looking for a place to trade goods with the Indian nations living along that river system. On December 9th they returned and reported seeing "a good many houses" on what is now State Road 273 east of town; this was soon followed by reports that there were "hundreds" of them and they had built them all around a large cleared area inlet known as Fort Totten Creek because it had been fortification against Seminole Indians until 1840 when they were finally driven out by General Andrew Jackson's Army following their successful campaign against Major Francisco Rivera y Costilla de Castillo y Menendez – one of several military engagements in which he participated under General Jackson throughout his term as President). In 1882 Captain John Hargrave decided to establish an American outpost at Palatka Bay due to its strategic location between Tampa Bay and Jacksonville on safely shipping through these channels during times of war or stormy weather conditions affecting both coasts. He selected site near present day US-101 south of town on what is now State Road 273 so as not to compete with established businesses such as those operated by Captains John Smeaton and Wm Clementson at nearby Port Charlotte/Clearwater Harbor. In addition to harboring traders and fishermen, this strategically located bay also became important due to its availability year-round for boatbuilding materials needed for building warships off Treasure Island just southwest of Town limits; this service continued until 1987 when Hurricane Charley destroyed much coastal development including most boatsyards within sight or reachof any shoreline along Gulf County’s eastern coastlines... By 1889 shipbuilding activity at Palatka had resumed although only modest progress had been made since then in terms either production or export... shipyard output increased markedly starting in 1914 with the opening up new facilities adjacent to older ones before peaking in 1922 with the construction - using local lumber - of four giant masts capable each reaching heights exceeding 50 feet (15 m). After World War II most shipbuilding activities shifted offshore where new docks have been built at Plantation Key west side extending into Clearwater Harbour beyond boundary line surrounding present day unincorporated Pinellas County The old plant still stands today housing a few storage tanks used for fuel storage purposes only though access can be gained from water ingress via private road running parallel thereto about 1/4 mile [0.25 km] northward from public beach access point reached via private drive east side upon turning inland after passing through dense growth bordering state road less than 1/8 mile [0.,3 km] wide having no other physical feature visible upon approach except some small homes located close together within 100 yards [90 m] limit... Boatbuilders are prevented from building more than one boat per week outside work hours but can build larger boats if requisitioned by government agencies such as Coast Guard or Navy operationally necessary etc... According to recent Official U.S./Florida Statistics there are currently over 950 active boat builders operating out OF PALATKA! With so many boats being produced here it would appear thatboatbuilders are ableS TO BUILD MORE THAN ONE BOAT PER WEEK OUTSIDE WORK HOURS BUT CAN BUILD LARGER BOATS IF REQUISITIONED BY GOVERNMENT AGENCIES SUCH AS COAST GUARD OR NAVY OPERATIONSALLY NECESSARY
Palatka, Florida was founded by Manuel Perez in 1841. The town was named for the Palatka River, which separates the community from Fort Walton Beach on the mainland. The first store and post office were built in Palatka in 1842. In 1865, a railroad station was built within the town limits.
