Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Pompano Beach Combined Statistical Area. The city was founded in 1887 as Palm Beach on a tract of land that was now within present-day Miami-Dade County. In 1896, local developer A. P. Jeffrey bought the land comprising what would later become Palm Beach Gardens and laid out streets and homes according to his own plan - with large mansions set off from small streets by long avenues. By 1912, the community had almost doubled in size and had annexed much of neighboring Biscayne Park. In 1916, Jeffrey turned over all of his holdings to Mayor John Fenton for development into an urban area known as "The Villages."Both Jeffery's original townhome lots and Fenton's subsequent subdivisions remain well preserved today: still mostly single-family homes dating back to the early 1900s sit side by side on wide streets near some of South Florida's most popular tourist destinations such as Boca Raton (just east of downtown), Davie (just south of Interstate 95), Westwood Mall (northwest corner of Northwest Third Street and Northwest Tenth Avenue), Coconut Grove (southwest corner of Northeast Second Street and Northeast First Avenue) – all within walking or biking distance of each other; and also close to several major hospitals including University Medical Center/ Methodist Hospital in West Dania (just northwest of downtown), Broward General Hospital/Miracle Mile Hospital just southeast of downtown, and Fort Lauderdale Veterans Affairs Medical Center just southwest of downtown). On July 25, 1954 it became one municipality with its current name when it annexed neighbouring Biscayne Park during a special meeting called by then Mayor Manuel Diaz Rivera under the provisions OFHSA §4106(a)(2)). This followed annexation proceedings that began on May 21st following complaints from residents about obscene billboards located near certain business areas including Coral Gables Boulevard W., Belmont Road NW., Miracle Mile Boulevard NE., Sunrise Highway SW., Midtown Drive SW., Federal Highway SR 801(now US 27) & US 1A which were being displayed without any permits or sanction from either City Hall or OFHSA! Today Flagler Shores continues to be an enclave within Palm Beach Gardens boundaries while Boynton Beach functions as its legal municipal subdivision complete with its own government services centred around Boynton Beach Marina Blvd.– both unincorporated communities managed by their respective county governments… All this despite predictions made by some regarding "the end"of this once vibrant Urban Village after more than 50 years since incorporation! In recent years there has been renewed effort to redevelop portions surrounding Flagler Shores which have seen mixed results with developers focusing more on creating high-end housing developments rather than traditional retail shopping Centers like those located adjacent to Sunrise Hwy./US 1A while largely failing to create significant new jobs or denser residential neighbourhoods closer to public transportation options like Flagler Shores MetroRail Station & I-95 exit ramps
palm beach Gardens was founded in 1922 by Dr. Ernest Beaumont and Mrs. Emma Lavinia Beaumont. The original home at 6561 Palm Beach Gardens Blvd. was designed by architects George Prentice and Harry Furnish and built for them by the Beaumont-Furnish Company of Hollywood, Florida. In 1923, Dr. Ernest Beaumont purchased a tract of land east of Palm Beach Boulevard from the heirs of Hugh Morrell (founder of Morrell's Drug Store). In 1928, he built his first clinic on this property which became known as the "Beaumont Clinic." In 1933, Dr. Ernest Beaumont added an annex to the main clinic building that became known as the "Beaumont Annex." This annex served as a surgical wing for both the primary clinic and the annexes. The annexation also included an office building, a chapel, and a playground for children adjacent to the main clinic building. Dr. Ernest Beaumont died in 1957 and Mrs. Emma Lavinia Beaumont continued to run Palm Beach Gardens until her death in 1979; she bequeathed it to her son, Donnellan III., who continued to operate it until 1990 when it passed through bankruptcy court ownership to The Seagulls Foundation Incorporated under management of Donald Trump Sr.. It currently houses two golf courses - one operated by The Seagulls Foundation Incorporated and one jointly operated by The Seagulls Foundation Incorporated & Jupiter Ltd..
