The Palm Beach Gardens National Guard is one of the largest and oldest military organizations in South Florida. The guard has a rich history that dates back to World War II. The first unit organized in Palm Beach Gardens was the 114th Infantry Regiment, which was activated on August 29, 1942. It served as an auxiliary unit of the 8th Army during World War II. On December 15, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt created the Palm Beach Gardens National Guard out of parts of the old 337th Infantry Regiment that had been mobilized for war service in November 1940. At its activation ceremony, the guard consisted of 133 officers and men from Palm Beach Gardens and 10 other towns in unincorporated Pinellas County. Inactivated on September 16, 1944 were all but two companies of this regiment which were reactivated on October 1st with headquarters at Plantation Hills Army Airfield and Troop C at Kendall Park Airfield respectively; these units eventually became part of the newly founded 4th Infantry Division (South Florida). In 1947-1948 there was a program to place guardsmen from Broward County into Palm Beach Gardens Units due to budget cuts by Congress resulting from World War II hostilities; however no such units ever materialized or were manned by Guardsmen stationed here. A new program began in late 1951 when local businessmen/ politicians donated surplus military equipment used by Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Department; these donations led to formation of three battalions (Eighth Armored Cavalry Squadron, Seventeenth Signal Battalion and Nineteenth Field Artillery Battalion) under command of Colonel Herbert Weiner who resided here until his death in May 1959 after leading those units through combat deployments along Iwo Jima then Okinawa Island where they successfully completed their training mission before being disbanded on July 151959 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickory Ridge following III Corps deployment to Vietnam as part of First Marine Division commanded by General Creighton Abrams which ultimately failed during Tet Offensive operations against North Vietnam In 1955-1956 a new program began allowing Guardsmen stationed here to exchange uniforms with law enforcement officers assigned to other jurisdictions within South Florida; this program continued until 1978 when it was ended due to budgetary constraints caused by increased crime rates within our community combined with changes within U.SArmy forces structure resultant from Korean Conflict experiences etc.; today’s troop strength consists only Of Reserve Officers Training Corps members assigned Here for ceremonial purposes again beginning in 1978 Guard troops exchanged uniforms with Broward County deputies employed by various state agencies including: State Attorney’s Office (now Sarasota County), Tax Collector’s Office (now Lee Cooley Law Enforcement Services), Park Police Department (now Miami-Dade Police Department), Fire Rescue System (now Miramar Fire Rescue District) etc.; however no such programs have occurred since then albeitTroops do occasionally participate In civic events held throughout our city Nowadays The City Council prohibits any typeOf uniform exchange between local law enforcement officers and Military personnel so This event falls outside OfCity Limits
The National Guard is a national service organization in the United States. It was organized on November 15th, 1917 as a result of the American Revolution. The first National Guard units were activated on December 15th, 1917. They served in various capacities until their dissolution on October 1st, 1949. In recent years, the National Guard has been revived and used more extensively in America than ever before. Currently, there are over 350,000 Guardsmen serving in all 50 states and Washington D.C.. These men and women are some of the most patriotically minded individuals in our society and play an important role in keeping our country safe from harm. The Palm Beach Gardens National Guard was established on Jan. 15, 1935 in order to support the Florida State Guard. On Dec. 1, 1936, the Palm Beach Gardens National Guardsmen were ordered to active duty and participated in the Spanish-American War. In 1942, they became part of the United States Armed Forces and fought in World War II as part of the Pacific Theater of Operations. The unit was disbanded in 1945 but reactivated again on Nov. 10, 1947 under former name Florida Army National Guard 4th Infantry Regiment (later redesignated Florida Army National Guard 6th Infantry Regiment). The regiment served with distinction during peace time until its disbandment due to budget cuts on Sep. 30, 1958
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is a census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 5,806 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Miami metropolitan area and is included in the Miami–Dade statistical area. The area that now makes up Palm Beach Gardens was first settled by Japanese Americans in 1922 as part of renamed Plantation Key neighborhood on Biscayne Bay. In 1945, it became part of South Miami after its neighborhoods were merged into that city. Parkland Heights was annexed to Palm Beach Gardens in 1977. Founded as a resort town by John Davenport Jr., Palm Beach Gardens quickly became one of South Florida's most popular tourist destinations for cruising and golfing during the 1920s and 1930s; its construction of world-class hotels (such as The Ritz-Carlton), casinos ( such as Hollywood Casino), and other attractions helped make it one of the most prosperous communities in south Florida during those years. Its growth slowed beginning in World War II until abruptly resumed following the war's end when many military veterans returned home to start new families and businesses. During much of this time period, palms grew plentifully along Biscayne Boulevard bordering present day Ocean Drive; however, due to restrictions placed on palms by then US Presidel Harry S Truman following an order from Congress prohibiting discrimination against citizens based on their race or national origin (the "Fair Housing Act"), only limited palm development took place throughout much of what is now Palm Beach Garden
The National Guard has been a vital part of the United States since its inception. The first national guard units were raised in 1775 as a militia to protect American settlers during the early years of the United States. The Guard was created under the Act of March 3, 1792 which authorized Congress to raise one regiment of infantry, two regiments of cavalry and two companies of artillery for three years. The Guard was originally organized into brigades, which were then divided into battalions. After World War I, there was an increase in military activity and so it became necessary to organize the Guard into divisions. In 1941, Sections 1-5 (of present-day Pennsylvania) Divisional National Guards were activated to support Army troops fighting in World War II. In 1949, following passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), all states were required by law to have their own National Guardsmen within their borders. This gave rise to the modern day “National Guardsman” program which provides state soldiers with training and resources needed for homeland security including providing support for local police departments and First responders when called upon. Today, there are over 2 million men and women who serve in the National Guard across America. Most members serve honorably but some members may face challenges such as pregnancy or family emergencies due to deployments abroad or natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina or Hurricanes Harvey or Irma. Members come from all walks of life; many are veterans who have served our country through Active Duty Military service or Reserve duty status while others are recent college graduates looking for an opportunity to make a difference in their community and country. The Palm Beach Gardens neighborhood of Palm Beach, Florida was developed in the early 1800s. The area today is located on the southern border of the city limits and includes a mix of older homes, some new construction, and a few old warehouses. In 1875, George Washington palm that graces the University of Florida was brought to Palm Beach by his son John Westcott. The tree was cut down in 1911 but replanted at UF. In 1926, Dr. J.B.Cobb introduced unsuccessfully to growing palms in this region then renamed "Palm Beach Gardens." This name change may be due to the fact that there were no palms trees in this part of town back then! Palm Beach Gardens became one of the most popular areas for residents because it had good schools and easy access to all that Miami had to offer. It also became an extremely safe place for women because it had no gangs or prostitution rackets like other parts of town did at that time! Many famous people have lived here including King George V, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Princess Diana and more!
