The Palm Coast Air Force Base is home to the Florida Air National Guard’s 193rd Airlift Wing, which provides airlift services for military installations and civilian agencies in Pinellas County. The wing has a rich history of deploying gifts to local residents and businesses. In 1944, a group of Palm Coast businessmen pooled their money to fund an air transport service for the troops in World War II. The first plane arrived at Palm Coast Municipal Airport on December 12th, 1944 and transported supplies and equipment to Fort Pierce Naval Station. From there, the planes took off daily transporting supplies and munitions to Allied forces fighting in Europe. Thanks to this service, the town grew quickly and became known as “The Delivery Place” for soldiers stationed in the area. In 1951, another donation was made by palm coast businessmen Jack Latham and Tom Burton. This time they donated $5,000 towards purchasing two J-2 Cubs aircraft that would be used by the 93rd Airlift Wing for flying cargo between our base at Pembroke Pines Naval Station and various locations around Central Florida. This service helped keep our military personnel connected with their loved ones back home during times of war or emergency. It is also noteworthy that these donations allowed us to purchase three new Boeing 727-200 jetliners which we are currently using as transportation assets for our civilians! In 1974, yet another contribution was made by palm coast businessmen Frank Gifford and Clyde Fenton when they gave $10k towards purchasing four Cessna 150s aircraft that would be used by the 93rd Airlift Wing for flying cargo between our base at Pembroke Pines Naval Station and various locations around Central Florida. These planes were instrumental in keeping our military Personnel connected with their loved ones back home during times of war or emergency while also allowing us to provide much needed transportation services across central FL! It wasn’t until 1995 when a donation from retired UDT helicopter pilot/co-pilot/owner Don Easley came through giving us twenty four Cessna 210 helicopters that we could finally provide full fledged airlift support! This allowed us to become one of only a handful of bases in America providing this essential service! Since then, we have continued adding new capabilities such as large fuel tanks on top of our helicopters so we can fly longer stints without refueling; stateoftheart communication systems so pilots can communicate with controllers from other bases;and even an indoor hangar so pilots can stay safe while operating inside tight quarters! Our mission continues to beto care for our Military Families while providing critical transportation resources statewide!

The United States Air Force has a rich history of deploying gifts to its citizens and partners in support of military and civilian operations. One of the most recent examples is the deployment of an air force gift to Ghana in celebration of the country’s first democratic elections in over 25 years. The gift, which was delivered by two fighter jets, was a unique and touching way for the USAF to show its support for democracy and development in Ghana. In 1991, following the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq, the United States decided to send a message of peace and goodwill to that country's people. Accordingly, it sent aircraft from Incirlik AFB outside Istanbul carrying humanitarian supplies such as food, clothes, water filters and medical equipment. This type ofift also served as an opportunity for United States Ambassador Douglas Feith to visit Baghdad with his counterpart from Iraq at Incirlik AFB. It was during this trip that Feith observed firsthand how important airlift was to Iraqi stability after Saddam's ouster. Since then, other countries have joined Iraq in thanking America for its largesse – including Bahrain (2006), Ethiopia (2007), Jordan (2008), Lebanon (2011) and Morocco (2013). In January 2017 US Secretaryof State Rex Tillerson announced plans for another large donation: $225 million towards a new facility called al-Khalidiyah Air Base near Baghdad which will be used exclusively for American warplanes training Iraqi security forces. This marks yet another example of how America’s commitment to democracy and human rights has helped achieve results across borders.
In 1957, the USAF deployed a gift of over $1 million to the United Kingdom in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of RAF Fighter Command. The gift was in the form of five Spitfires, each with an elaborate canopy and markings.

In 1915, the city name was changed to Palm Beach after its incorporation into the state of Florida. The population grew rapidly during World War II due to military installations in the area and the demand for defense supplies and labor.
