Here are some notable stories from Palmetto Bay's history: In 1892, Henry DeKalb began operations as a small grocery store in downtown Fort Myers. He started selling beans and coffee to customers on his porch. In 1914, he opened his own business, The Coffee House, which became one of the most popular tourist destinations in Fort Myers. In 1927, J.C.'s Coffee Company was founded by John Cynon and Jock Mahoney. It was the first major cafe chain in Florida and operated out of two buildings on Main Street in Fort Myers. J.C.'s Coffee company is still active today with over 60 stores across Florida including locations in Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami Beach/Dade County, Orlando and more! In 1949-1950, The Coffee House moved its shop to what is now known as 333 W Jefferson Avenue Suite 1005 inside the old Shriners Hospital building on US 1 near Naples Boulevard (now known as Sawgrass Mills). At that time it was the largest coffeeshop west of Interstate 495!
Palmetto Bay is a small town in St. Johns County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The name "Palmetto Bay" comes from two Spanish words: "palmota" meaning "shore" and "bay" meaning "peninsula." The term has been applied to both tidal reach and barrier island shores in Florida ever since the early 1800s when British traders first explored this region. In 1821, Captain James Cook discovered this peninsula while sailing along the eastern coast of South America and named it after a palmettos he saw growing on the shoreline. In 1845, Colonel Augustus Pritchard built a wharf on what is now known as Palmetto Island near where Interstate 95 crosses the bay today. After years of growth and development by local citizens and businessmen, Palmetto Bay became one of Jacksonville's most vibrant communities during the 1920s with its own newspapers, radio stations, movie theaters, grocery stores and other businesses. However, during World War II PALMETTO BAY was put under strict military curfew because enemy submarines were operating off its shores safely cordoning off much of Jacksonville for strategic bombing raids on Japan as well as providing essential munitions production facilities for our allies at nearby Naval Weapons Station Mayport! During Hurricane Andrew's landfall in 1992 PALMETTO BAY lost over 90% of its homes valued at $2 million or more! Fortunately there have not been any major hurricanes here in recent history so PALMETTO BAY continues to grow peacefully - albeit slowly -albeit laden with historical treasures & memories that are sure to stay with everyone who visits!

The first documented reference to artisan coffee was in a letter from Nicholas-Jacques Conte to his wife on November 9, 1795. He noted that he had purchased two pounds of English roast, which he judged to be "the best kind I could find." In 1802, John Quincy Adams wrote about the advantages of using only premium beans from small-scale roasters: "It cannot be doubted but that this class of coffee furnishes us with the choicest article in the world; for it is not dupeable by any means of artificial means." During the 1800s, different areas around the United States began producing their own types of artisan coffee. By 1900, every state in America had at least one small-scale roaster who produced their own unique flavor profile and style of artisan coffee. This trend continued into the 21st century as smaller and more independent roasters continue to produce quality cups of artisian coffee.

Palmetto Bay is a small, but important, community in Jacksonville, Florida. The community is located on the western bank of the St. Johns River and was founded by colonists in 1795. The name Isabella was given to the neighborhood by Spanish settlers. Many of Palmetto Bay's original residents were from Georgia. In 1855, the city of Jacksonville annexed Palmetto Bay and began to develop it as a fashionable commercial and residential district. The area became known for its wide variety of architecture including Italianate homes, mansions built for wealthy merchants and others, Gothic Revival buildings, and American Craftsman-style homes. From 1925 until 1971, Palmetto Bay was part of Jacksonville's city limits. However, after an annexation referendum failed to gain support from residents in that year, Jacksonville annexed Palmetto Bay again and developed it as an exclusive "city-within-a-city." Since then, Palmetto Bay has been one of the most affluent areas in Jacksonville; its population has increased fivefold since 1977 when it had a little over 1,000 residents.
In the late 1800s, Palmetto Bay was a popular spot for boating and fishing. It was also a popular place for slaves to work. In the early 1900s,Palmetto Bay became an area of interest for oil exploration.
