The history of the Coast Guard in Panama City Beach, Florida dates back to 1928. At that time, the beach was a popular spot for swimming and boating. The Coast Guard was needed to help keep people safe during these activities and also provide service on shore. In 1935, the Coast Guard purchased its first boat, which it used for patrol and security duties around the beach. In 1951, the Coast Guard acquired its present-day vessel, the PT-1A Lady Liberty. This boat is used for both law enforcement patrols as well as fishing trips. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard has been instrumental in keeping people safe on our beautiful coast in Panama City Beach.
