The Coast Guard in Panama City, Florida was created on October 1, 1921 as the Panamanian Coast Guard. The first coast guard officer was Captain Manuel de la Vega who served from 1921-1925. In 1926, Captain José Gomez became the first captain of the present day Panamanian Coast Guard. In 1935, Major General Teodoro Obregon became Commanding Officer of the Panamanian Coast Guard and reorganized it into two brigades under his command with headquarters at La Conchita. By 1939 both brigades were renamed as Regular Army brigades and again subordinated to Major General Obregon’s command. On September 30th, 1939 Commodore Harry Washingburn arrived in Panama City with orders to take control of all American forces in the country pending its ratification by the United States Congress which did not happen until 1940. Commodore Washingburn changed many things about the coast guard including its name to “Panama National Guards” which persisted until 1945 when it reverted back to its original name of “Coastguard” after World War II ended. It should be noted that this change in name is not unique to Panama City but rather across much of Latin America where similar changes took place during WW2 due to various reasons such as increasedAmerican military power within a region or because new technologies had emerged that warranted an enlarged role for our armed forces such as radar technology or jet aviation. During WWII there were also several waves of immigrants who came overland through Central America and landed on Key West before sailing south along Mexico's Pacific coastline where they would board American ships for transport ashore and onward into Central America where they would set up businesses or offer their services as protectors/workers for established elites while their own families lived relatively unhindered inside newly acquired territories controlled by foreign powers like Japan or Guatemala etc... This process often led to land acquisitions by entrepreneurial elites who went from being protectors/workers to becoming landlords/owners while remaining largely out of reach for ordinary people (the risa). As a result one can see a pattern emerging whereby those in a position to gain wealth through profitable enterprise become increasingly important players in society while at the same time maintaining some degree of social distance from those less fortunate than themselves... This pattern has been repeated throughout Latin America over recent centuries and continues today with numerous examples illustrating how wealth, power, privilege and status can create opportunities for those at the top but also lead to significant disadvantages for those below them especially if these individuals do not exercise good governance skills or manage resources effectively lest they fall behind schedule or lose ground altogether....

Panama City, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 639 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Miami-Dade County. The first permanent settler in Panama City was John O'Neill who arrived in 1794. By 1821, the area had been organized as a town by General Lorenzo de la Garza and named for Spanish explorer/adventurer Manuel Armando Pérez de Guzmán y Castilla. In 1827, it became part of what is now known as Miami metropolitan area and was renamed "Panama City" after its incorporation into that region. The city's economy has been based largely on tourism since it became an incorporated municipality in 1959; however, the city has also become a center for transportation and technology with several major companies headquartered there including Dassault Aviation and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.. The first school established in Panama City was erected on DeSoto Key by Mrs. Sarah Ballard (1806–1883). Mrs. Ballard taught her two daughters to read and write using natural materials such as shells and coral from their cruise ship anchored offshore while they waited for their father to return from another voyage to Cuba early one morning in 1828. A second school opened two years later on Government Key where children could be educated free of charge by teachers imported from Spain under the auspices of President James Kappeler American Missionary Society which helped promote education among Native Americans living near Tampa Bayou on the mainland United States then under Spanish rule; this program ended when Mexico gained independence from Spain during the Mexican–American War (1846).
