A related gift was given to Camp Pendleton Naval Air Station on December 5th 1945 by Mrs.Nixon Eisenhower when she provided $5 million towards construction of a new facility adjacent to Pima County Airport - now known as Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni - which would house Military Intelligence Service Headquarters (MISHQ) American Forces Japanese Area Services Branch Detachment 2(AmFJS/2). The first Marine detachment assigned at MCSO Iwakuni was company H8t/46 on December 8th 1946 under command of Captain Carl Sauerstrom Barracks #3rd Battalion 1st Marines while Company F3/41 continued duty at San Carlos Army Base until 1898 following expiration of term for enlisted men serving out original enlistment periods expiring October 1st 1951 inclusive.Nixon later stated that her donation will “never be forgotten because it helps show how much our country means to us – both military people here at home & those fighting overseas”

December 9th 1946: After more than four decades service together beneathMajor General Lew Wallace Jr.'s command...the First battalion recently received word that he has resigned his commission effective December 9th 1946 effective immediately due to ill health! This news comes as quite a shock...we're incredibly saddened hearing this but understand why he must go...he's fought hard enough for us! We wish him all the best while he recuperates!!!
October 1st 1951: As mentioned earlier...enlisted menserving out original enlistment periods expired on October 1st 1951 inclusive......so less than 10% of total force remained after November 15th 1950!!! That's right ladies & gentlemen...just 10 days after VJ Day!!!!! Crazy wasn't it?!!
