The gunman, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, killed 17 students and staff before fatally shooting himself.
Parkland, Florida is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 27,500 at the 2010 census. Parkland is located on the banks of the Everglades and includes parts of University Park and Coconut Creek neighborhoods. It is one of two towns in Broward County that are wholly within Miami-Dade County; the other being Fort Lauderdale. The name "Parkland" comes from "Parkside," meaning estate or plantation in English. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Parkland were French Canadians who named their land after Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de La Salle (1684–1748). In 1834, Captain John Sibley discovered land that would become part of Parkland when he sailed his ship through the area on his way from Key West to Tampa Bay. He named the peninsula after Lieutenant Colonel James Peebles (1749–1827), Commandant of Fort Defiance on St Petersburg's bayou circuit which bordered then Spanish Havana but opened up for American settlement soon after Peebles' purchase In 1876, A.J. McCloskey bought 1,000 acres (400 hectares) east of present day Coral Road from Captain John Sibley for $2 per acre ($40 per hectare). McCloskey developed this tract into Coconut Creek which today has a population over 25K as well as manyResidents working at nearby local businesses such as Samsung and JP Morgan Chase In 1907 Mayor Harry Hays established Coconut Creek Municipal Airport which served much of Coral Springs before its closure in 1957 In 1925 Drs Crain and Laughlin organized an agricultural society with goals to promote horticulture among farmers throughout Broward County In 1939 Drs Crain and Laughlin donated 2 acres (10 hectares) west of present day Coral Road to Mrs Anna Jourdain for use as a park/ nature reserve
Artisan coffee has a long and varied history. The first coffee was roasted by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795 on the island of Corsica. Coffee became popular in Europe during the 18th century, and began to be exported around the world. During this time, different methods were used to roast coffee: Roasted on an open fire or in a Castello oven; Beans were ground into small pieces and then mixed with hot water before being roasted; and Ground coffees were ground for specific uses such asacionespresso (coffee that is prepared with cream) or filter coffee. During the 20th century, more and more people started to buy their coffee from neighborhood cafes instead of large grocery stores. This change led to different ways of preparing coffee – often using less expensive ingredients like whole beans or pre-ground beans – which gave artisanal coffees a unique flavor profile. However, despite these differences, all artisanal coffees share one common ancestor: The Ethiopian Yirgacheffe culture café roaster’s single origin blend of whole bean Darjeeling beans that are roasted fresh each morning on site.

The school was the latest in a string of mass shootings that have taken place across the United States over the past few years. Parkland is located in Broward County, which is part of Miami-Dade County. The town was first settled in 1867 by German immigrants. In 1952, it became part of Miami-Dade County and then to Broward County in 2013. As of 2019, Parkland has a population of over 200,000 people. The town began to experience crime problems after World War II when many soldiers returned home with guns and began using them to settle disputes between locals and other groups. Crime rates started to increase after the early 1990s when South Florida experienced a boom due to newly developed businesses and increased immigration from Latin America and Asia. Since then, crime rates have decreased slightly but remain high compared to other U.S cities. Gang violence is also an issue in Parkland as there are several gangs that operate out of the area including MS-13 and Crips. One reason why crime rates continue to be high is because there is not enough money available for police officers or prosecutors to try cases effectively given the small amount of funding that exists for law enforcement statewide in Florida.[1] Additionally, many criminals are able to move around freely because they do not face jail time if they are caught with drugs or firearms while committing crimes.[2] This makes it difficult for prosecutors to bring charges against offenders as they may not have enough evidence against them.[3]
