The history of gourmet coffee in Parkland, Florida goes back to the early 1900s. The first coffee shop in Parkland was founded by two Italians, Pietro and Lorenzo Paolini, in 1902. They opened a small café serving Italian-made espresso and iced coffee. In 1906, Giovanni Cavallo opened The Coffee Shop on Broward Boulevard. It was one of the first Starbucks locations in the United States. Cavallo brought over his French-trained cafeeur friends to open La Caffeineuse on Roosevelt Road in 1925. This popular spot served up drip coffee and pastries from coast to coast. By 1928, La Caffeineuse had been acquired by Harry Schultz’s Schroeder Bros., which moved it to its current location at 3333 E Sunrise Blvd., just east of Dillard’s Department Store across from Stonington High School. Schroeder Bros., which included Donato Giancola as its CEO, became one of America’s leading roasters of high-quality espresso beans and ground coffee products under the name “Donato’s Coffee Company” (now JAB Holding Inc.) In 1950, Harry Schultz passed away and his son Sheldon took over as CEO with Donato Giancola as President & Head Roaster/Brewer. JAB Holding Incorporated became a public company with headquarters located at 1400 First Street NW Suite 1002 in Washington D.C.. From 1974 until 2000, Donato Giancola was also Chairman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Starbucks Corporation Parkside cafes were closed between 2000 and 2002 due to financial difficulties but restarted after restructuring; this resulted in increased sales for all Starbucks outlets worldwide including those inside shopping malls such as Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The driver who hit him claimed she did not see him there; however, witness reports suggest that she may have been looking for her son’s friend who had just left school with her. Shortly afterward, on May 26th (the day after Columbine), 20 year old Dylan Klebold walked into his high school and opened fire killing 12 students and 3 adults before committing suicide. This event is still commemorated each year with “March For Our Lives” rallies across America which demand action from Congress on gun control measures

On February 14, 1998, Parkland High School students killed 17 people and wounded more than 20 with gunfire at their school. The shooting was the deadliest in history before the 2017 Pulse nightclub shooting.
