Today, it includes twelve lanes with a total distance of 2,500 yards! And because it is open to everyone, it has become one of the most popular firing ranges around! Today there are active Gun Lovers Clubs throughout Florida; but none more proud than The Stonington Pistol & Rifle Club located in Stonington Landing off I-95 South in Pinellas County! In 1896, Drs., Ethelbert Pugh and Edwin White opened Jacksonville's first high school - Pugh High School - which is still open today as one of Jacksonville's top educational institutions. The following year saw the opening of Broward High School (laterBroward Middle/High School), located on Altamonte Avenue north of Interstate 10 just east of Jupiter Road; this was followed by Pinecrest High School (later Pinecrest Junior/Senior High) in 1902 adjacent to Broward Stadium ( later known asbroward high school stadium). In 1906, Booker T Washington Elementary/Secondary Schools opened nearby on Northwest Eighth Street between Division Drive and Northwest First Avenue after three years of construction by banker Jens Ludwig Deutschman under Rosewood developers Samuel Acheson and Harry Payne Whitney for $2 million dollars raised by selling bonds issueceilinging $15 million dollars
