The Navy has been deployed to various places in the world, but it is perhaps most famous for its involvement in World War II. The military was first stationed in Florida during the early 1800s, and by the 1920s, it had a permanent home at Fort Walton Beach. In February of 1945, Naval Forces Europe was activated and tasked with ferrying troops and supplies to help liberate France from Nazi Germany. A few months later, on May 8th of 1945, President Harry S Truman authorized the activation of Naval Forces Japan. This dedication marked both an eventful year for America’s wartime allies as well as a significant moment in naval history. By 1950, there were 2 fleets totaling over 50 ships stationed throughout North America and Europe. While many people may remember the wars fought in Korea or Vietnam – or even current operations such as Operation Neptune’s Spear – nothing quite compares to American service members who have served our country abroad. It is this community that has donated items ranging from mementos to actual ship parts to make up what is now known as the USS Stonington Museum Fleet Museum Collection (SMFEC). This collection began simply enough; when sailors returned home after their deployments they would leave behind items that could be used or abused by their friends and family back at home. Immediately following this tragedy $62K+ was pledged towards TSV’s GoFundMe account alone !!! While there are countless other examples like this where money has been channeled towards positive causes simply because something tragic happened – I think it is important that we start highlighting navyDeployedGiftHistory more regularly especially since so much good has come from recent deployments!

The Parkland, Florida Massacre took place on Valentine's Day, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people and injured 15 in a school shooting. The massacre has been called the deadliest school shooting in United States history and is currently the deadliest mass shooting in Florida history. The shooter, Nikolas Cruz, was apprehended by police after shots were fired at him from inside the school. He had previous mental health issues which were not known to authorities at the time of his rampage. After being apprehended, he was taken into custody with an arsenal of weapons including an AR-15 rifle and handguns. It is now widely accepted that Cruz planned and carried out this atrocity for reasons that remain unknown.
Parkland, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It was founded on December 6, 1949 by James L. Boyd and other local investors as a small town in the Everglades National Park. The name "Parkland" comes from the word "park," which means "a place to sit or rest." It was originally established as part of the Plantation Key area of what is now Overtown and Inwood neighborhoods in south Miami-Dade County. On May 14, 1957, Parkland became an incorporated municipality with a population of just under 2,000 people; it had been annexed by Miami-Dade on April 30 of that year. The city's first mayor was Leo Boggs. In November 2002, voting residents approved annexation into the City of Miami-Dade; this action made Parkland one of the five cities inMiami-Dade County that are part of the Mayor Carlos Gimenez administration and not subject to county government control.
