These planes were used by the USAF as cargo planes and flew into Iraq and Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). The 747s have now been stored at Incirlik AB, Turkey since 2006. In 2010, it was announced that one of these 747s would be given to Saudi Arabia in order to promote good ties between Saudi Arabia and the United States. That same year, it was also announced that another747 would be given to Egypt in order to increase trade between these two countries. In 2012, it was announced that one of these 747s would be given to Qatar in order to increase trade between Qatar and America. Finally, in 2016 it was announced that one of these 747s would be given to India in order to increase trade between India and America. All seven jets from this "Gift Of Life" Program have now been sold or leased back out to other organizations or governments around the world who need them most such as NATO Military Airlifts Command (NMAC), NASA Ames Research Center (NRSC) Earth Science Satellite Mission Unit Flight Test Unit (ESMUFTU), Royal Malaysian Air Force No 4 Squadron(RMANS4), Philippine Department Of Defense M777A2 Main Battle Tank Regiment(MDDR), Australian Defence Forces RAAF APH-6/24 HARM Helicopter Squadron Pty Ltd., Bahraini National Guard unit AH-64D Apaches #1 & 2 squadron Bahraini Naval Aviation Regiment The United States Air Force's "Gift Of Life" program has resulted in seven different airplanes being gifted by the USAF over a period of ten years with each airplane having unique capabilities or messages for American society or foreign governments working with American agencies outside their home country
