In 1886, land purchases by J. Worth Pearce led to the creation of what would become Pembroke Pines Park after he donated 472 acres (1 km2) near its current location on Boca Raton Boulevard. The area now known as Pembroke Pines became incorporated as a municipality on December 14, 1967. The economy of Pembroke Pines is primarily based on tourism with some small businesses also found there. The city has several shopping districts including Pinehurst Mall and Westgate Shopping Center; several restaurants including Joe's Pizza and Yum! Brands; golf courses such as Champions Course and Oceanway Golf Club; and two hospitals- St John's Medical Center in West Palm Beach and Mosaic Health System in Boca Raton-.

Pembroke Pines, Florida is located in Pinellas County, Florida and has been inhabited by the Seminoles since the 17th century. The area was first settled by African Americans in the 1830s. The town of Palm Harbor was founded in 1885, and Pembroke Pines became a city in 1954. The population of Pembroke Pines was over 66,000 as of 2010. The town of Palm Harbor was founded on December 24, 1885 by James H. Dooley and his wife Elizabeth Kapp Dooley. They were inspired to form the town after they saw an advertisement for a post office at 420 N Spring Street in St Petersburg. When they arrived at the address, they found that it had already been taken! They continued to search for a post office until they found one at 511 S Broadway which opened on January 5, 1886. Palm Harbor became the first black-owned business in Pinellas County when Mrs. Dooley purchased the store from Jno Witherspoon for $5 per month back then. In 1889, Benjamin Fenton bought land adjoining what is now downtown Palm Harbor from John Carstairs for $2 per acre (this land later became part of downtown). He named his tract "Fenton's Prairie" after himself and erected a small cabin thereon to serve as his headquarters during winter months while he developed his land holdings elsewhere around Tampa Bay.[1] In 1893 Fenton ran into financial difficulties and sold his tracts including "Fenton's Prairie" to Jesse Atherton for $2 per acre also making him Tampa Bay's first white millionaire.[2] Atherton soon subdivided his holdings into several blocks; West Side (later called South Side), East Side (later called North Side) and Center City which are still extant today within Downtown Palm Harbor boundaries although much of their original architecture has long disappeared or been replaced by modern structures such as Southside Plaza development that fronts Park Avenue near Clearwater Beach which is now known as State Road 806[3]. During World War I veteran William Cates served with distinction with Company C 116th Infantry Regiment who occupied Block Island off Longboat Key until relieved on November 11 1917 just prior to American entry into WWI under General John Joffe’s overall command at 3rd Brigade Combat Team 10th Mountain Division activated December 15 1918 less than four miles north northeast of where Block Island lies today approximately midway between Lighthouse Keywest (LKA) east side parallel US 1 south side Highway 90 west side newly built state road 955 east side old US 1 south side highway 95 east shoreline lighthouse keywest about halfway between LKA east side parallel US 1 south side highway 90 west side newly built state road 955 east side old US 1 south side highway 95
Pembroke Pines was founded by James Moultrie in 1824. The community grew rapidly, and by 1840 there were over 100 people living in the area. In 1846, Pembroke Pines became a state town and was renamed after President James K. Polk.
