The National Guard of Florida is a unique and diverse organization that has been in existence since 1907. The guard was originally called the Florida Volunteer Infantry Regiment, and it was first organized as part of the Florida Territorial Militia. After World War I, the regiment was redesignated as the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment (National Guard) on October 15, 1920. The battalion served in World War II as part of the 1st Brigade Combat Team 2nd Infantry Division and was activated at Fort Polk on November 8, 1942. As a result of its service in World War II, the battalion received numerous awards and decorations including two Purple Hearts and three Distinguished Service Medals. In 1954, the brigade became an element of III Corps under General Dwight D. Eisenhower before being reassigned to VII Corps effective February 16, 1957. On July 14, 1966, elements of brigade were re-activated at Ft Myers Beach with responsibility for security for Everglades National Park. The unit served there until 1992 when it was placed within First Battalion/9th Infantry Regiment (Florida National Guard). On October 20, 2007- Pembroke Pines Herald reported that a new military display had just opened at Hollywood Forever Cemetery honoring all members of both national guard battalions from past wars which included WWII veteran Artie Hawkins who died earlier this year aged 91 years old
The National Guard is a branch of the United States Armed Forces and its members are called "National Guardsmen." The National Guard was established on July 16, 1916 by an act of Congress. It is one of the smallest branches of the United States Armed Forces with only about 1 million active duty soldiers and marines. The National Guard provides security for federal facilities, including state capitols and other government buildings. It also provides support to law enforcement during times of emergency. One major reason why the National Guard exists is because there are times when civilians cannot be deployed to help with security tasks or because they have other duties that require them to stay home. The Pembroke Pines National Guard has a history dating back to World War I. The unit was activated in 1917 as the 89th Infantry Regiment and fought in the war until 1919. During the war, the regiment also formed the nucleus of the present-day Florida National Guard. As part of World War II, the Florida National Guard was mobilized for two years and served in both Europe and North Africa. After the war, it again mobilized for two years during 1951-1953 before being disbanded. In 1957, reactivation of the Florida National Guard occurred when an amendment to Title 10 of The United States Code authorized activation of units under state jurisdiction “for purposes including training for national defense functions which may be exercisable by any type or number of military organizations”. It is this amendment that led to today’s Pembroke Pines National Guard. Since its activation, the guard has participated in numerous campaigns including Desert Storm/Iraq War (1991-1996), Hurricane Katrina (2005-2007), and Maria (2017). Additionally, unit members have served on multiple occasions as members of state militia detachments available for duty statewide should there be a major natural disaster like Irma or Harvey.
Pembroke Pines is a town located on the Indian River in Palm Beach County. The population was 26,831 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Dade metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1884 by J.W. Boyd and his wife, Belle Boyd, who named it after their father's estate, Pembroke Manor in Norfolk, England. At that time there were only a few hundred people living in Pembroke Pines. The early settlers were mainly farmers who grew rice and other crops for local consumption or export to nearby St Petersburg and Miami. In 1907, developer Harry Kapp built the first house in what became Pembroke Pines and started developing the town into an upscale community with white-collar jobs and modest homes for ordinary citizens such as merchants and teachers. A new courthouse was built in 1915; it remains one of the most distinctive features of the community today. In 1949, construction began on what is now known as Coconut Creek Parkway which linked Pembroke Lakes with Boca Raton to form one continuous village center across from Islamorada AFB; this development transformed Pinetop Farms into one of South Florida's leading golf courses dating back to 1955 when The Everglades Golf Course opened its doors to residents of Coconut Creek Village (now Broward County). That same year also saw construction begin on Dania Beach Boulevard which connected downtown with North Dania Beach through Memorial Drive/Pinecrest Avenue; this route still exists today as Uchende Road/Highway 706 just east of I-95 exit 133B near mile marker 231A (exit from I-95 southbound) about 2 miles east of downtown Palm Beach

The drums also made use of recycled materials, helping to create a sense of urgency among recruits about how they needed to get ready for combat if they wanted to survive against Nazi Germany. The National Guard has continued this tradition by providing drum corps programs throughout the years in order TO teach young people about our country's history and culture – something that is very important today!

Pembroke Pines, Florida is a town in Duval County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. It is located on State Road A1A about 12 miles (19 km) east of Jacksonville and 9 miles (15 km) west of St Augustine. The town began as a frontier post along the Apalachicola River in 1818 and was named for Rear Admiral George Pembroke, who had been sent to survey the region. By 1828 it had become a small village with 576 residents. A sawmill started up in 1829 and soon became one of Duval County's largest employers. After being chartered as a town in 1851 it grew rapidly due to its location by railroad lines and its convenient access to nearby markets. In 1907 Pembroke Pines absorbed neighbouring Live Oak into its municipal boundaries; however Live Oak retains some historical aspects such as an annual Christmas parade that begins at Live Oak Cemetery at 6 am on December 25th.
