Pinecrest is a town located in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville–Boca Raton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pinecrest was founded by citrus growers in 1907 and became a town on December 12, 1912. The name comes from a small hill that overlooks the community. The first post office in Pinecrest was established on July 2, 1907. In 1912, Pinecrest incorporated as a municipality under the name of "Cypress". In 1947, Cypress changed its municipal status to that of a town after voters approved an referendum to do so. On January 1, 1949, Pinecrest became an independent city with its own mayor and council members. In 1984-1985 Pinecrest experienced significant damage due to Hurricane Donna which caused extensive flooding throughout the community and left over $200 million worth of damage including homes and businesses being destroyed or damaged beyond repair. As a result of this event much reconstruction took place within the community with new roads and infrastructure being built as well as new homes being constructed for residents across different neighborhoods such as Eastside Village (the old downtown), Westside Village (the newer areas east of State Road 441), Midtown (the older areas west of State Road 441) and finally Sunrise/Leesburg Hills (the newest section north of I-75). The most recent hurricanes have not had such destructive results however several properties were damaged during Irma early last week morning when wind gusts reached nearly 60mph(95km/h).

Lauderdale–Miami Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Pinecrest can be traced back to 1892 when Fenton Pritchard purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) of land in what is now Pinecrest. He named it after his family's home on the same property – "Pinecroft" – and began construction on a two-story wooden cabin which he used as his headquarters for his agricultural business. In 1916, Pritchard sold his holdings to J.B. Wofford and his wife Lillie Hargrave Wofford for $1 million, making Pinecrest one of the most valuable communities in South Florida at that time. During World War II, Pinecrest played an important role in the country because it housed more than 10% of all American military personnel stationed in Europe and Japan; its population grew from 3,000 to 37,000 during the war years alone! In 1951,pinecreast passed through a series of changes when its original town hall was destroyed by fire and replaced by a new structure which remains today as one of Miami-Dade County's most popular tourist destinations – even hosting functions such as presidential inaugurations! In 1984, Pinecrest joined with other communities within Miamicounty to form the "Miamiconnty metropolitan area". Today pinecreast continues to play an important role within this community by being home to many businesses including US Magazines & Publications Inc., American Airlines Centerpreads LLC., Joe's Pizza & Pasta Store LLC., Coca Cola Refreshment Co INC., Hilton Garden Inn & Suites - Plantation West Palm Beach Resort & Casino and many others!
