The Coast Guard has been in Pinecrest, Florida since 1925. As a result of their presence, the community has developed strong ties with the military and law enforcement. The Coast Guard also provides an important service to the community by providing protection against coastal emergencies and establishing communication between local authorities and the mainland. In 1925, President Coolidge established the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary to provide support for the Department of Justice in its efforts to enforce maritime laws on America's coasts. In 1947, Congress passed legislation authorizing the Coast Guard to operate as a national agency with jurisdiction over all waters within 30 miles of any coastlines in United States borders. This gave rise to what is now known as "the National Marine Fisheries Service." Since its inception, Pinecrest has enjoyed partnerships with numerous organizations including: The Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office; Broward County Sheriff's Office; Palm Beach County School Districts; City of Fort Myers Beach; Vero Beach Police Department; Stonington Police Department; Daytona Beach Police Department; Sarasota County Sheriff's Office and Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. These partnerships have brought benefits both for our citizens and for our agencies partner. For example, through these collaborations we are able to improve safety on our roadsides while providing critical resources such as patrol officers or search and rescue capabilities when needed most!

Pinecrest is a small town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,822 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Pensacola–Boca Raton–Ft Myers Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pinecrest is located on U.S. Highway 90 and State Road 806 east of Pensacola and west of Boca Raton. The community was founded in 1892 by Presbyterian missionaries from Scotland as a mission station for Indian children living near Fort Walton Beach on the mainland Escambia Peninsula. In 1924, Pinecrest became an independent municipality with its own municipality hall and police department until it merged with Boca Raton in 1959 to form the present-day Pensacola metropolitan area. Pinecrest has been home to many major league teams over the years including the baseball team based in Jacksonville (the Florida Marlins) from 1997 to 2002, the soccer team based in Fort Myers (the Tampa Bay Rowdies) from 1996 to 2003, and now the football team based in Pensacola (the Alabama Crimson Tide) since 2007 after moving from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The organization was established on December 4, 1903 when the United States Congress created the USCG as an emergency response to the Spanish-American War.Originally, the Coast Guard was a volunteer force and its first officer was Rear Admiral George Dewey. In 1916,became permanent and initially focused on coastal security. It became an law enforcement agency in 1951.In 1966,the Coast Guard began smuggling operations and eventually developed a full-fledged intelligence gathering capability. Pinecrest, Florida is located on the central Gulf Coast of Florida and is bordered by Miami to the south, St. Petersburg to the north, Escambia County to the east, and Bradford County to the west. As of 2000, Pinecrest had a population of 13,652. The area that now makes up Pinecrest was first settled in 1824 by Captain John Ponce de Leon as part of what would become St. Petersburg. One of the early settlers in Pinecrest was Nicholas Auld who arrived in 1827 and built a cabin on present-day Live Oak Drive. A few years later General James Ewing established one of Tampa’s earliest agricultural communities here with his farm called East Broward (now part of Hillsborough). In 1850 Colonel George Rogers Clark visited Pinecrest and purchased some land from Auld for $330 dollars which he donated to the town for use as a burying ground. In 1853 Captain Fenton Hogg sold lumber from his plantation at East Lake Worth to make pine boards for local churches and homes here. By 1870 Pinecrest had a post office and five stores; two blacksmiths operated businesses; three banks were open; four schools were operating; two residences were built; one saw mill was active; two churches were organized; one newspaper published weekly; twentyfive farmers grew crops on about seventy acres ; seventeen steamboats served this port between 1901-1909 The most significant event in Pinecrest’s history occurred when it became home to Camp David during World War II where President Franklin D. Roosevelt spent time after being evacuated from New York City following an air raid on September 11th 1941 while vacationing at nearby Clearwater Beach. After being vacant for almost fifty years Camp David reopened in September 2017 as United States Military Academy – West Point cadet campground covers 3,000 acres across eight hectares including 2 football fields, tennis courts/ball diamond/golf course and several barracks buildings housing troops from both NATO countries stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina along with their families over summer break 2018 In addition to its role as home to presidents during wartime Camp David has also been used multiple times since then as an Army reserve training center including hosting ceremonies such as The White House Correspondents' Association's National Defense Awards Gala which took place there in May 2013
