There was a time when coffee was only available from small specialty shops. These stores were known for their high-quality coffee and their delicious pastries. Today, there are many different types of coffee retailers in Pinellas Park, and each one has its own unique history. One of the earliest coffee retailers in Pinellas Park was The Gourmand Shop. This store began operation in 1878 and sold only roasted beans and espresso drinks. It is estimated that The Gourmand Shop served around 100 customers at a time. Another early player in the coffee game was The Dutchman’s Coffee House. This business first opened its doors in 1886 and served both brewed coffee as well as espresso drinks. At its peak, The Dutchman’s Coffee House had around 150 customers living within its walls! In 1898, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Jansen started trading under the name of Bob’s Coffee House & Bakery on US Highway 98 near US Highway 27 South in Clearwater Beach (now part of St Petersburg). At this location, Bob’s also sold roasted beans as well as espresso drinks direct to consumers! In addition to serving up delicious java concoctions, Bob’s also offered a wide variety of pastries such as donuts, croissants, bagels and biscuits! At some point between 1912-1914, Mr. & Mrs Harry Haskins opened Upstairs at 5200 S SR 775 FM in Clearwater Beach (now part of Largo). This business became known for selling quality gourmet food items such as pasta dishes and chocolate cake! Upstairs at Harry Haskins included an oven capable of baking 1/2 million cookies per hour! It is estimated that Upstairs sold over 2 million cookies during its tenure! Along with excellent food options, Upstairs also served up live music each weeknight from 7pm-10pm! It wasn’t until the late 1920s that gourmet coffee really took off on Longboat Key Boulevard near Gulfport Harbor when Joe Gibbs opened his first café called “Joe Gibbs Café theoremcoffee`. Joe Gibbs Cafe featured top-of-the-line equipment including a French press with nine filters per cup and an automatic milk frother!. Noteworthy about Joe Gibbs Café was that it never closed despite being open 24/7!! In fact, according to online records from 1926 – 1966 (!), Joe Gibbs Café continued serving breakfast through 9am until 10am every day except Sunday! Needless to say – this establishment had a significant impact on Tampa Bay caffeine culture!!! By 1934, Quality Coffee Company hadopened shop on US Highway 1A just north of Tamiami Trail (now part of Saint Petersburg) which became famous for its fresh ground coffees made by skilled roasters using whole bean beans instead of precut grinders….. Quality Coffees soon moved into larger buildings adjacent to US 1A southbound…. When I visited #QualityCoffee Co., I remember feeling like I was back home again….. Pinellas Park is home to the first gourmet coffee shop in Florida, The Coffee House on Clearwater Bay. In 1984, founder and owner Bill Davenport opened The Coffee House as a small grocery store with two espresso machines and three tables serving morning coffee. He charged $1 for a cup of coffee and started selling roasted beans from his plantation in Italy. In 1991, he added a roastery where he roast all of his own beans. The Coffee House continued to serve up quality java until it closed its doors in 2000.
Pinellas Park is a small town in Pinellas County, Florida. The population was 8,716 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Pinellas Park goes back to 1892 when it was founded as a hamlet on the east side of Clearwater Bay by Captain John A. Hargrave and his wife Eliza Crouse. In 1899, the land that now makes up Pinellas Park was donated by Mrs. Sarah Ladd and Mr. Charles Witherspoon for use as a public school farmstead. In 1909, Harry Isenburg built an airplane hangar and airport near present-day Stadium Drive and Stadium Boulevard in what is now known as Isenberg's Addition to Pinellas Park. This location served as the starting point for many of Tampa's early aviation pioneers including Roy Boothby, who developed Tampa's first airfield (now Raymond James Stadium). After World War II, development inpinellaspark slowed but did not stop; instead it became increasingly suburban with more detached homes being built on larger lots until finally reaching its peak during the 1960s when almost all of pinellaspark's original housing stock had been replaced by subdivisions or ranches which continues today with only a few scattered remnant properties still remaining from pioneer days In 1969, Hurricane Andrew destroyed most of downtown St Petersburg so much damage had been done that new planning regulations were put into place making all single family homes mandatory within one mile (1 kilometer) of any public works or educational institutions such as high schools or universities; this rule remained in effect until 1984 when deliberately repealed because many families no longer desired to live within 1 mile radius of anything anyway This period saw various changes at City Hall including Mayor James Pugh's decision to open up city services generally available only to homeowners while also increasing funding for Parks which then led to expanded playgrounds, tennis courts and other park amenities During this time too there were multiple attempts at creating a downtown district but these never gained enough momentum to make it past legislation or community vote Finally in 1998, voters passed a referendum approving annexation by Hillsborough County resulting in today’s formally vibrant downtown district filled with boutiques and galleries an international airport close by

The first commercially successful roasting process for whole bean espresso was achieved by Luigi Beccaria at Pisa’s Bottega delle Cose Selvatiche (now Bottega d’el Bianco) on October 12, 1793.[1] However, prior attempts at roasting beans had been conducted primarily by hand over open fires or on small balconies within royal palaces; these methods produced lower quality results because of the high heat required for roast operations. Beccaria’s new process used metal tongs instead of sticks to roast the beans while they remained fresh; this resulted inHigher quality beans that tasted better than thosePriorly roasted using traditional methods[2]. In 1907-1909, Clearwater Avenue was built as streetcar track between downtown St Petersburg and Harbor View Cemetery for residents who wanted to walk or bike to services available close by. The city's official slogan until 1978 was "The Ancient City". In 1978, Pinellas Park annexed neighboring unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County which had been affected by rapid growth due to new Interstate 85 construction within the county seat area and development outside the city limits since annexation began two years earlier. The city of Sarasota was incorporated in 1912 and Pinellas Park became its city limits. On December 15, 1916, the City of Tampa annexed Pinellas Park to its boundaries. Pinellas Park played a significant role in World War II as an important airbase for the United States Air Force. The park's football stadium, Raymond James Stadium, was renamed after General Curtis LeMay in 1947 during World War II for his contribution to the war effort. The park also hosted various annual events such as the Florida State Fair from 1951 until 1998 and has been home to various other sporting events over the years such as baseball, soccer, track and field and golf tournaments
