In 1894, a group of coffee growers in Pinellas Park, Florida began to trade beans with other coffee farmers in the area. In 1912, they founded the first modern coffee farm in Pinellas Park and grew their own coffee until 1970. While there is no direct connection between maga coffee and the founding of Pinellas Park Coffee Cooperative, it is likely that the two were related. The cooperative was established because of a desire to improve working conditions for its employees as well as reduce costs associated with purchasing beans from distant sources. It was also important for Pinellas Park Coffee Cooperative to become known for its quality products and consistent production. Maga coffee has been enjoyed by residents of Pinellas Park since at least 1896 when José Mariño first brought some plants back from his native Colombia to grow on his land near Clear Water Key. There are numerous references to maga coffee throughout history, most notably an article written by Dr. Jerald Hilburn in 1915 which described how Eduardo Elizondo used maga beans in his successful espresso business in Miami Beach. The first coffee shop in Pinellas Park was opened in 1962 by the owners of a convenience store. The pharmacy moved to its current location in 1969 and started serving coffee from its own roaster. In 1992, the store was bought by the same company that operates Starbucks. In 2003, Starbucks closed its doors for four months due to fire damage. The new owners reopened the store with new design and added more coffee beans from around the world to their roastery.

Pinellas Park is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,538 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Pinellas County after Clearwater and it is part of the St. Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1892 as a small farming village on Lake Okeechobee by two brothers, Wm. H. Hagarty and Frank J. Hagarty Sr., who named it for their father-in-law, Pinellas County Judge David Denton Pinckney Sr.. In 1903,pinellas park was established as an independent municipality to house citrus groves which were then leased to Tampa General Electric Company for electric lights and power generation from 1917 until 1947; also from 1917 until 1940 pinellas park served as the main town square of St. Petersburg; following world War II pinellas park became an all-city borough with its own police department under Mayor Harry Reidy until being annexed into St Petersburg in 1959 In 1960, following the annexation of neighboring Clearwater into St Petersburg, Pinellas Park became one of four cities within the new city limits (the others being Clearwater Beach, Gulfport/Boca Raton and Port Saint Lucie). On November 2nd of that year Mayor Reidy announced that all municipal services would be centralized within the newly created City Hall complex located at 6th Avenue North and West Street in downtown St Pete - this move came about due to financial reasons since attendance goals for City Hall had been exceeded even though only a fraction of its actual inhabitant
Pinellas Park was founded in 1892. The first white person to settle in Pinellas Park was James W. White, who bought land from the Seminole Tribe of Florida. In 1907, Pinellas Park became a city and had its own police department.
