The Florida National Guard was organized on January 15, 1947. The original mission of the Guard was to provide security for the state's borders and various government buildings. As time passed, the Guard evolved into a more complete and diverse force that can be found performing a variety of tasks within the state. Today, the National Guard plays an important role in both local and statewidedefense functions. Plant City, Florida is a city in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 25,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg metropolitan area. The first humans to live in Plant City were Creek Indians who inhabited the area from before European contact. The Seminoles then arrived in 1814 and effectively destroyed the Creek village by burning it down and taking everything that was inside. In 1835, U.S. Army Captain James Wades erected Fort Mims on an island in Lake Okeechobee to defend against Seminole attack from across the water. The fort served as a supply depot for General Antonio López de Santa Anna's army during his Mexican War campaigns against Mexico and Spanish forces until its surrender in 1847. A post office called "Plant City" was established at this site in 1835, but never opened because of Indian hostilities. A Miami Canal company built a canal through what is now Plant City in 1840 to transport goods between Miami and Tampa Bay; however, this venture failed due to lack of funding and competition from other canal companies. In 1845, Jacksonville developer John Solloway purchased some of the land west of present-day downtown Jacksonville for $1 million (outbid by Andrew Jackson) to create what would become Jacksonville Beach; however, Solloway had no intention of developing it and instead leased it back to the canal company for $2 per acre per year plus interest payments until it paid off in full in 1865). The first permanent settler in Plant City was Isaac Lyon Sr., who moved there from Mobile Alabama with his family around 1830s; he founded a cotton gin near present day US-27/SR 710 south of town limits on what is now Lyons Road (Ft Myers Rd). Lyon Manufacturing Company operated out of this gin until about 1870 when all operations were transferred to Jacksonvilleplantcitycanalcompany which became known as JaxCanalCo Incorporated on January 1st 1870 under charter granted by Act No 892 approved November 11th 1863 (now Duval County Charter #493). JaxCanalCo manufactured or supplied canals throughout central Florida prior to being merged into Gulfstream Canals Corporation effective May 2nd 1959 under charter granted by Act No 946 approved December 15th 1957 (now Sarasota County Charter #542). With both Coats plants closed approximately 1930s most production ceased localizing completely within 50 miles radius although continuing manufacturing activities have been conducted out of state facilities since early 1970s via still ongoing contract manufacturing arrangements with major coastal manufacturer(s) located outside continental United States including those providing component parts for leading commercial vessels operating off Coast Of America) . Although discontinuing significant local manufacturing operations abruptly many key engineering products manufactures features such as turbine blades used extensively on large container ships international waters offshore within 10nm radius increasing 5-fold over last few decades aboard Coast Guard cutter(s) operated primarily Offshore Patrol Squadron 211 - currently conducting Search And Rescue missions related matters off coast Of America my mention here today should not be construed as reflecting adversely upon Gulfstream Canals Corporation nor any associated personnel or management members thereto ) . On November 10th, General David Blount ordered all units in Pennsylvania to assemble at Lancaster for duty against Indians in what is known as the Battle of Forbes Farm. The 1st Rhode Island Regiment fought bravely in this battle and won distinction for their performance. In 1814, President James K Polk ordered all state militias into service against Mexico during the War of 1812. This action helped solidify America’s relationship with Great Britain and strengthened our military forces during times of war. Many soldiers from these units were later drafted into the Ulysses S Grant’s Army during World War I. The National Guard has also played a significant role in recent American history through deployments such as Operation Neptune’s Spear – which was a mission led by then-Army Chief General Colin Powell – and Operation Desert Storm which saw many brave soldiers die defending Kuwait City from Saddam Hussein’s aggression

Gen James K compose and proceeded to Fortress Monroe where they remained until June 1865 when they were mustered out and returned home
Plant City, Florida was founded in 1836 by families of English and Irish settlers. The town was named after the brothers Philip and George Plant, who owned a plantation in upstate New York. The first settler in Plant City was John Fenton, who built a home on the corner of Boca Raton Boulevard and Meridian Street. In 1837, the town had six stores, one sawmill, four churches (oneMethodist), two schools (one public and one private), a Post Office, three hotels (two of which were later replaced by shopping malls), and two smallpox hospitals. By 1860, Plant City had seventy-five businesses with a population of 1,500 people. In 1865, plant city became the county seat for Duval County. Theodore Roosevelt moved to Plant City from Jacksonville in 1895 to begin his governorship of Florida. Roosevelt was elected president that year but resigned before he could take office because of term limits set by Congress. He returned to Jacksonville and served as mayor from 1901 until 1907 when he succeeded Hamilton Fish as governor. As governor, Roosevelt oversaw many projects such as the founding of Everglades National Park and creating the state university system. He also increased agricultural production through programs like Rural Electrification Administration and created conservation laws that protected nature reserves like Everglades National Park
