Tactical Coffee was founded in Plant City, Florida in 1974 by two coffee enthusiasts – Rick and Sandy. The first store was a small storefront on Main Street. Today, Tactical Coffee has over one hundred retail stores across the United States and Canada. In 1974, Rick and Sandy were both working as coffee experts for Bob's Coffee & Tea in Plant City. They discovered that there was a need for a more specialized coffee shop service in the area. They started to offer espresso drinks and roasted beans. In 1978, they opened their first restaurant – Tactical Coffee II – which became an important local landmark with its modern design and popular café fare. In the early 1990s, Rick passed away but his wife Sandy continued to operate Tactical Coffee until her own death in 2002. During her time as owner/operator of Tactical Coffee, she helped develop many of the cafe's unique concepts such as TEAM CUFFEE where customers could come together to enjoy a common drink or meal during rush hour. She is also credited with developing the FIRST CUFFEE SHOP in America which opened up at Tactical Coffee III on Euclid Avenue in downtown Plant City in 1995. In 2007, Coastal Georgia Trading Company acquired intestinal disease-challenged business Bob's (Rick's father) last surviving business from Sandy after it closed for good due to health problems caused by food poisoning related illnessesRick had been dealing with since he was young). The acquisition gave Coastal Georgia Trading Company ownership of all ofBob's assets including all ofRick's personal belongings including his archive of coffee memorabilia and photos dating back to when he started drinking tactical coffee back in1974! Plant City is located on Pensacola Bay and has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The city was founded in 1904 by General John Moseley as a supply depot for the U.S. Army's 5th Infantry Division during World War I. The name "Plant City" was chosen because of the abundant palmetto trees that grew thereabouts. The first recorded settlement in Plant City was made on August 14, 1884 by Jno Purdy and Wm Fenton when they leased land from the government for $1 per acre (0.50 km²). George Hays established a flour mill called Hays & Company in 1907 which became one of Florida's leading manufacturing concerns until it closed its doors in 1973 following heavy losses due to competition from soybean production in South Florida. In 1911 General Moseley purchased 2,500 acres (10 km²) of land east of town from Arents heirs for $10,000 and began development that would become known as "Moseley Park". This area now includes downtown Plant City and much ofeastside Hillsborough County including Clearwater Beach and Seville Island . In 1924 William Davenport built attorney general's office building #3 which still stands today as one of the most distinctive buildings located within Plant City limits- also home to many local businesses including law firms like Duffy & Quinn LLP and King & Spalding PC., among others In 1933 Carlisle Ladd opened his first grocery store called Ladd's Market Place adjacent to what is now Jarryd Hayes Stadium By 1945 all but two plants were closed or converted into housing units with an accompanying increase in traffic associated with wartime needs such as military barracks, munitions factories, aircraft manufacturers etc..
