In the early 1900s, the United States Air Force was formed as a result of an act of Congress. At its founding, the USAF consisted of only five planes. However, over time, it has grown to become one of the largest air forces in the world with over 112,000 personnel and 149 bases worldwide. Since its inception, the USAF has deployed gifts to various international locations. Some of these deployments have been wide-ranging – such as providing aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina – while others have been more focused on specific goals or objectives. For instance, during Operation Neptune’s Spear in 1991, the USAF sent a shipment of parachutes and other supplies to help rebuild Afghanistan after their war with Soviet Union ended. Today, military members from all across America contribute their time and talents to support USAF missions around the globe. In honor of this service and for those who have made donations in recent years – both large and small – we are honoring our deployed gift history in Port Orange today. The United States Air Force Deployed Gift History in Port Orange, Florida. The USAF gifted items to local residents and organizations during the Third Annual Forces Christmas season event on December 20th, 2017. This year's deploying unit was the 321st Airlift Wing with their Expeditionary Combat Command detachment from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ. This year's event featured a variety of gifts including books, electronics, tools and supplies as well as military clothing and gear. Gifts were selected based on donated items or donations received from individuals or organizations within the community.
Port Orange is a small town in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 9,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Dade metropolitan area. The name "Port Orange" comes from the nearby Jacksonville River and orange groves that cropped up along its banks in the early 19th century. The first Europeans to visit Port Orange were Spanish explorers Raimundo de Mena and Pedro Bárcenas on November 3, 1502 when they explored what is now Flagler Beach. In 1821 Englishman John Smeaton built a wharf on the river near present-day Spring Hill and began shipping salt water products downstream to Key West. By 1825, fresh water had been developed at Spring Hill by Fenton Water Company officials under contract with Captain Robert Eads of Fort Lauderdale for $1 per barrel (equivalent to $ ). These systems continued until 1917 when it was decided to develop an inland canal which would cross the Everglades by boat instead of through trails and swamp crossings as had been done before. By 1924 all but one channel had been dug; however construction was halted due to strikes by labor unions over wages and other issues. World War II interrupted this process and only two channels were completed before again being stopped because of wartime shortages of materials such as steel cable ribs needed for canal construction. Finally, in 1946 construction resumed with a total cost of $51 million which included building five locks along the canal route including one at Port Orange which became operational on October 12, 1948 The original town site was located just north ofpresent-day Spring Hill between locked gates that led into Sugar Land Lake Golf Course eastbound and westbound (now part of Sunrise Boulevard). After years of growth adjacent retail districts emerged including: Crystal City Shopping Center south from US 1/A east past I-75 south into Old Town; Third Coast Shopping Center north from US 1/A east past I-75 north into Today's Neighborhood; Hard Rock Cafe across Creek Road northeast from US 1/A south into today's neighborhood; Blue Dolphin Casino across Coral Gables Boulevard southeast from US 1/A southwest into today's neighborhood (now part of Doral); Renaissance Tower Medical Center across State Road 7 northwest into today's neighborhoods - Garden Ridge Drive SW off US 27 northwest out towards Aventura Hills ; Harbour Towers across Harbor Blvd./Old Cutler Rd./Nassau AveSW out towards Homestead Hills ; [and] Lakeshore Mall across Deerfield Dr./Nassau AveW out towards North Plantation . An old post office served portions of what is now Port Orange until it closed in 1926 after service was transferred to Miami Beach. In 1927 citrus crops were introduced to much success despite difficult weather conditions caused by hurricanes Ivan (September) and Frances (May). Citrus farming continues although there has not been any commercial production since then due largely to lack of available land or money for expansion efforts . Development has occurred primarily around shopping centers consisting mostly strip malls with restaurants inside them although some older homes have been preserved intact . There are also several golf courses within walking distance including Belle Isle Country Club ();[4] Cypress Bay Country Club ();[5] Sawgrass Hills Golf Course ();[6][7][8] Hollywood Hills Golf Course (). Many large apartment complexes have been built throughout recent years but most development remains outside downtown boundaries
The Air Force Deployed Gift History project is a research and archival initiative of the Air Force Historical Research Agency (AFHRA). The goal of this project is to document the history andorigin of air force gifts to civilians, military, and government organizations. This paper will focus on the history of gifts given by the United States Air Force (USAF) between 1947 and 1992. From its inception in 1947 until 1992, the USAF deployed gift history initiatives as a way to support friendly relations with various nations. These initiatives were designed to provide service members with unique opportunities to show their appreciation while also demonstrating American commitment to international peacekeeping efforts. While some gifts were large-scale or entirely unique, others were more symbolic or commemorative in nature. Each gift had a specific purpose and was meant to serve as an acknowledgment of esteem and friendship between USAAF personnel and civilian partners. Throughout its history, the USAF has been characterized by its dedication to both physical Preparedness and electronic readiness. In recent years, it has become increasingly apparent that technology has played an important role in USAAF operations both domestically and abroad. As such, it was only natural for the USAF to develop gift histories that chronicled interactionsith various electronic systems within America’s Armed Forces . By documenting these interactions through GIFT reports, AFHRA hopesto provide insight into how technology can be used in ordertoserve our troops at home as well as abroad . Additionally, this initiative provides valuable insights into how we interact with our alliesboth inside Americaandoutsideofit . For example, during Operation Desert Stormin 1991the USAF implemented the first deployeddesignation system allowing commanders direct access tothree different types of aircraft including fighter jetsand bombersrespectively . This gesture represented not just American resolve but also American technological superiority over Iraqi forces

The first deployment of this program took place in 1947 and it was done in order to send Christmas gifts to military members stationed overseas. The next year, 1948 saw the deployment of another gift history program and it was done in order to send Christmas gifts to members of the military who were stationed within the United States. Additionally, Gift History programs were also conducted in 1949 and 1950 in order to send Christmas gifts to service members who were stationed abroad as well as those who were stationed within the United States.
Port Orange, Florida is a community located in Orange County, Florida. It was founded in 1903 by brothers George and John Crouse as a small port town on the Kissimmee River. The town became an important naval shipyard and military post during World War II, and today it is known for its shopping districts, beaches, and restaurants. The town's history can be traced back to 1851 when Captain John A. Fitzpatrick of the USS Constitution visited the area on his way to Cuba. He recommended that Fort Pierce be established as a seaside resort on the Kissimmee River because of its easy access to salt water. In 1903, George Crouse decided to make Port Orange his permanent home after moving from Jacksonville, Florida where he had been employed as a clerk at the Jacksonville Courthouse. In 1956, Port orange was designated as an emergency landing site for U-2 reconnaissance flights over North America during the Cold War era. The community has maintained its position as an important naval shipyard and military post throughout its history and continued to serve this purpose until 1992 when it was closed due to budgetary limitations. Today, it houses several shops and restaurants which provide a unique shopping experience unavailable anywhere else in Fort Pierce County.
Port Orange was founded in 1821 by Captain John T. Connell and his family. The area that is now Port Orange was part of the Seminole Nation at the time. In 1824, the first post office in present-day Port Orange opened. In 1827, a cotton gin was built in present-day Port Orange by James Mclntyre. In 1829, a sawmill and grist mill were built in Port Orange by John Witherspoon and Wm. Fenton. The town of Fort Myers was incorporated on November 15, 1830, from portions of present-day Port orange and Winter Haven. On December 3, 1830, the town of Winter Haven became an independent municipality when it seceded from Fort Myers to form its own municipality. In 1840, a railway line was built throughpresent dayPortOrange connecting it with Tampa and Jacksonville Landing respectively. This made port orange an important transportation hub for southern Florida
