Punta Gorda is located on the Gulf of Mexico about southeast of Fort Myers and about north of Naples. It has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa), abbreviated "BS" on climate maps. The first coffee being grown in Punta Gorda was Arabica beans from Africa originally brought by Spanish colonists in the 15th century as part of their trade with India and Asia. For many years it was thought that Native American beans were also used for coffee before European settlement began to change this habits and now all coffee beans grown in Punta Gorda are Arabica. The first roasters in Punta Gorda were two Italian brothers who opened up a small shop called La Corona Coffee House in 1911. In 1928, Donato De Palo and his brother-in-law Angelo Fortunato opened up their own roastery which became one of the most successful espresso roasters in the area today known as Donato's Coffee Roasters Ltd.. In 1978, Panama Coffee Company bought out Donato's Coffee Roasters Ltd., reopening La Corona Coffee House under new ownership with Colombian seedless coffee beans from Panama’s Andean foothills. Punta Gorda, Florida is a small town located on the southeast coast of Cuba. The population was 9,951 as of 2010. It is bordered by Jacksonville to the north, Miami to the east and west, Fort Myers to the south and Key Largo to the southwest. Punta Gorda is known for its white-sand beaches and USS Constitution Museum. The first European visitors to Punta Gorda were Spanish explorers who set out from Havana in 1511 looking for an entrance into Cuba. They found no such entrance, but did find a natural harbor that they named La Navidad (New Year's). They also discovered sugarcane fields and mills in what is now Punta Gorda. In 1898, Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro attacked Spanish military installations in San Juan Bautista Key on Florida's southeast coast. Spanish troops responded with massive artillery fire that killed more than 200 people including many of Castro's father's followers. The attack became known as la guerra de las Marianas (the war of the Marianas). A lighthouse was built at Punta Gorda in 1907 and it has been used ever since as a navigation aid for ships entering or leaving Miami Harbor. In 1954, Congress designated Punta Gorda Island as part of Broward County, Florida; however, it remained unincorporated until 1959 when it joined with nearby Stonington to form Gordon Beach Township; which then became Pinellas County in 2002 when all three county districts were combined into one government entity called Pinellas County Government Services District No 2 (PCSD2). This district includes all of Pinellas County except portions of Gulfport and Clearwater which are within Stonington Municipal Corporation limits; while Port Charlotte lies outside PCSD2 boundaries entirely On October 25th 2000 Hurricane Floyd formed over central Cuba about 270 miles due east of Tampa Bay near Ft Myers; after making landfall on October 26th just shy of mile marker 12N on US 41W close Toby island Floyd continued inland moving towards Gainesville before dissipating late November 10th over open water about 620 miles northeastward from Tampa Bay

Punta Gorda, Florida is a small, barrier island located in the Gulf of Mexico about 20 miles east of Tampa. The island was originally known as Fort Myers and was established by Spain in 1795. It was purchased by the United States in 1813 and became part of the Seminole Nation. In 1898, Punta Gorda was acquired by Great Britain and became part of the British Empire. In 1943, Punta Gorda Island was transferred to the US military as Luke Air Force Base after it had been used as an airfield for bombing runs against Japan during World War II. The base closed in 1992 and has been abandoned ever since. The origins of Punta Gorda date back to Spanish times when it served as a trading post on the banks of the St Johns River. A fortification named Fort Myers was built on the island in 1795 by Spanish colonists under Lieutenant José de la Rosa y Valdés. The fortifications were destroyed by American forces during the Mexican-American War in 1847 but were re-erected on Ft Myers two years later under Captain Manuel Menéndez Marín. The fortifications were again destroyed during Hurricane Andrew in 1992 but were reconstructed and reopened asLuke Air Force Base effective September 1, 1993 following Operation Neptune's Spear which ended Japanese bombings from USS Enterprise (CVN 74) off Luke AFB
