Rockledge is a town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area. The name "Rockledge" comes from the plantation where coffee was grown for export to Europe before it became popular in North America. The first coffee crop was grown on a small plantation about northeast of Rockledge in what is now Davie County in 1868 by two African Americans named John and James Fenton. They were hired by Mr. Watkins, who ran a trading post near Fort Pierce on Lake Worth Boulevard. The early plantations grew such rich coffee that they had to send their prices skyrocketing to make money off the crop and sell goods back home. In 1903, A&P grocery store opened in Rockledge and began serving as the base for local roasting operations of all types until 1975 when it closed down after years of decline due to consolidation within the grocery industry. In 1983, Bicentennial Coffee became operational with a small batch roastery on University Drive adjacent to Boca Raton's Rick's Steak House restaurant chain which continues today as one of Bicentennial Coffee's key brands along with other major profits coming from petrochemical sales through its subsidiary Master Oil Co., which provides processing services for Bicentennial Coffee beans as well as other select Colombian and Brazilian specialty coffees! In 2007-2008 an attempt was made by 2nd Amendment Supporters (and some Tea Party members) in Broward County [in South Florida] to pass an ordinance forbidding open carry of firearms outside businesses participating in Lord & Taylor department stores because these stores are often sources of revenue for gun control advocates operating statewide! ] however this effort failed thanks largely to backing from district attorney candidate Bill Maloney who successfully defeated said group’s initiative!

Rockledge, Florida is a small town in Martin County, Florida. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1887 by settlers from Ohio and Indiana. By 1912, it had a population of 1,500 people and a post office named after Julius Rockledge. In 1925, the name of the town was changed to Rockledge after General James G. "Light Horse Harry" Lee's estate in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 1965, Rockledge became an unincorporated community when it was annexed by Jacksonville. In 1990, it became a city when it was re-established as an overlay for Jacksonville due to annexation by that city of Saint Petersburg (then known as Clearwater). The economy of Rockledge focuses on agriculture and animal husbandry; rock phosphate mining has been done here historically as well. Rockledge is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,023 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Rockledge was George W. Gibson in 1875. He and his family founded a farm on what is now Springwood Boulevard just south of US-1 east of Rockledge Creek. Gibson named his farm "Gibson's Bluff" after himself and his son George W., Jr.. In 1887, John Fenton bought Gibson's farm from him and renamed it "Fenton Hill". The name Rockledge originated with Captain James A. Armstrong who landed there on December 3, 1820 while sailing from Havana to Key West with supplies for General Andrew Jackson’s army during the American War of Independence. Armstrong named the island “Rockledge” after his ship Thetis which he had captained while visiting England that year. In 1907, Hermann Hesse purchased land north of present day Springwood Boulevard between US-1 and FL-521A state road for $525 per acre (approximately ). By 1915, over 100 homes had been built on this property by German immigrants who were seeking improvement opportunities following World War I and its resulting amendments to the U.S Constitution providing for proportional representation in Congress through single member districts (SMD). In 1922, when Florida became an all-white state following passage of the All-White State Act by then Governor John Lawford Hughes, most Germans living in Florida left or were forced out due to racial violence that erupted throughout much of South America during that era; however some managed to stay behind as African Americans gained access to education and jobs starting around 1920 known as Reconstruction Era uprisings across many Southern states championing civil rights movements led by Martin Luther King Jr.. Rockledge is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 26,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Pompano Beach metropolitan area. The city began as a farming community on the edge of present-day Rockledge and Boca Raton beaches. The early settlers were Methodists from North Carolina who built their first houses in 1879. After several years of growth, they voted to incorporate as a city in 1903. The city's name comes from two families: The Rockliffes and the Drummonds. In 1887 John Doolittle, an American entrepreneur who had settled in Key West, bought land near Boca Raton and named it after his father, Sir John Doolittle (1784-1868). He built a home there and soon became one of South Florida's most powerful men. In 1912 developer Harry Wexler moved his citrus packing company from Key West to Rockledge and started marketing oranges to local farmers around Palm Beach County. After several years of growth, Wexler decided to incorporation as a city in 1916; Rockledge became its second incarnation under that name. In 1949 the city annexed neighbouring Deerfield Beach; Deerfield became its fourth incarnation as Rockledge–Deerfield Heights before being renamed again in 2000 – this time with more urban focus following annexation of neighbouring Pembroke Park. In 2006 the City Council approved plans for a new downtown shopping district which includes over 160 stores including Macy’s Nielson Center anchors Sears Inc., JCPenney and Carter’s Department Store; anchor tenants will include national chains such as Macy’s Rack Room Sales Dept., Kmart Supercenter & Regal Cinemas; service areas for restaurants will include IHOP & Burger King locations across two blocks between Third Street SW & US 1A
