The Constitution's hull was used as a model for the USS Monitor during the construction of her successor, the CSS Virginia.
Rockledge is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood metropolitan area. The Rockledge area was first settled by Southeastern Indian tribes in the early 1800s. In 1839, Major John Houstoun and his regiment of United States Marines landed on Miami Beach and explored what is now Broward County. They named this location "Rockledge" after Admiral George Rockwood (1785-1847) who had commanded them during their exploration of South Florida in 1824-25. In 1892, rock quarries were opened near today's intersection of Northwest Fourth Street and Northwest First Avenue to supply the city with granite for its sidewalks and other public works projects. At that time Rockledge consisted of just a handful of dwellings and three businesses. In 1907, Mayor Harry Golden ordered developer Julius Rosenwald to build a massive shopping mall on land adjacent to Coral Gables Boulevard across from Coconut Creek Lake. The new mall became one of Broward County's most popular tourist destinations until it closed in 1992 following Hurricane Andrew which destroyed much of Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood Area business activity including the old Rosenwald Mall complex. In 1962, AECOM built an office tower at 10600 North Northwest Fourth Street which remains an iconic landmark in downtown Rockledge today as well as an important local employer for many years past providing jobs for residents and workers alike including several generations of family members who have worked there from inception until today! Since 2000Rockledge has been enjoying a healthy resurgence thanks to several key initiatives led by Mayor José Gomez: $10 million investment into our Comprehensive Plan; $5 million contribution into Central Park; establishment of OnePoint – our only private venture focused exclusively on economic development within our boundaries; designation as a City “Downtown” through designation by county commissioners as one significant center for centralized economic vitality within Broward County; resumed efforts to attract major corporate employers such as IBM & Caterpillar – both companies announced expansions or expansions commenced operations here since 2009

Rockledge, Florida is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,749 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Gainesville–Lakeland Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rockledge was founded on August 8, 1892 by Ladd and Emmet C. Barkley as a station on the I-10 highway between Tampa and Jacksonville. The land for Rockledge was donated by J.D. Hillman who also donated much of what is now Polk County to the state of Florida. In 1905, it became a city with a population of 1,990 people and in 1912 it became an incorporated town with 4,000 residents when it annexed neighboring Doolyville and formed the Town of Rockledge. In 1938 it lost its incorporation status because its population had decreased to 1,500 citizens; however it continued to be called "Rockledge". In 1969 it regained its incorporation status as "Rockledge" after becoming one of several towns in Polk County that were granted this status due to increased development around Lakeland (the county seat). It has been home to many businesses including Wacoal Bicycles which manufactures bicycles based in nearby Fort Myers Beach since 1979; Upholstery Guys which does upholstery services; Ragin'Cajuns Casino & Resort which opened in 1984 and offers gambling games such as blackjack and poker; Publix Super Markets which operates two stores within walking distance from each other near Interstate 85; Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewing Company which brews located just outside of town on US Highway 301 east of US Highway 90 (north side); Burger King restaurant operated by Jack In The Box until 1998 when they moved into their current location across US Highway 301 north from Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewing Company; Asphalt Merchants Inc., formerly known as Grits 'N Grains Incorporated - currently serving as general store - since 1978'; two churches - First Methodist Church built in 1925 and Holy Cross Catholic Church built in 1922 - both still standing today: Evangelical Lutheran Church (Church Friends) opened in 1951 while St John's Episcopal Parish started services there in 1966; Baptist Churches USA deeded land adjacent to their property south of I-85 for use as a park before being turned over to the government following Hurricane Andrew damage five years later.; four schools: Hillsborough Elementary School opened on December 15th 1893 with about seventy students taught by Mrs Fenton (); Rockledge High Schoolopened on September 3rd 1924 with about 350 students taught by Mr Hargrave (); Escambia Intermediate Schoolopened on January 6th 1946 with about 275 students taught by Mrs Fenton ().
