Rockledge, FL is a small town in Polk County, Florida. It was founded in 1892 by J.M. Rockledge and his wife Anna. The town motto is "Where the sun never sets." The first police officer to be hired in Rockledge was Tommy McCann on November 17, 1912. McCann was a World War I veteran who had served with the 8th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He had joined the police force after being discharged from service due to shellshock. In 1919, Joe Gibbons became the first black policeman in Rockledge when he was hired as an assistant constable. Gibbons worked until he resigned due to sickness on December 5, 1924. Rockledge experienced its first renaming in 1955 when it became "Cleveland Park". Cleveland Park is located adjacent to downtown and is home to many of the city's high-end shops and restaurants. In 1978, Rockledge again received its name change when it became "Rockledge" – this time for good! The new name reflected the fact that most of what exists within walking distance of any house or business can be found within minutes' walk from either location (the exceptions being some large shopping centers). Since becoming a municipally-operated Police Department on July 1st, 1984, we have seen a great increase in crime rates throughout our community; however through hard work and dedication by our officers and staff we are committed to working tirelessly every day towards reducing crime levels in our village which will benefit all those who live here including law enforcement professionals as well!

Rockledge is a small town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,922 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Rockledge community began as a collection of two log cabin homes on a tract of land purchased by J P Richardson in 1892. By 1912, the community had grown to include four buildings: an old schoolhouse and three churches: First Baptist Church (1892), Methodist Episcopal Church (1912), and Presbyterian church (1914). In 1922, the Rockledge post office was established and remained in operation until it closed in 1975. In 1928, entrepreneur Waddell Cobb bought 1/4 acre (0.24 hectare) along U.S.-321 north of present-day Rockledge for $1,000. Cobb developed what would become known as Cobb's Ridge subdivision which ran from east to west across what is now State Road 434 south to where it meets Interstate 95 near Sanford. The first houses were built here between 1930 and 1936; most were single-family dwellings with side or rear yards open to the public roads that surrounded them on all sides. In 1941, when World War II began, businesses within walking distance of each other became common as men using nearby farms for war production sent goods back home via truck or carpools over long distances. This created shortages at home during wartime because transportation costs were high compared to prices at market rates; consequently rationing occurred which limited access to food items especially duringoffense days when grocery stores were closed due to government restrictions on munitions use

In 1960, Rockledge annexed what are now parts of Clearwater and Garden City counties to form Pinellas County; as part of this annexation process, its mayor petitioned Congress to annex more territory because he felt that Rockledge’s citizens were “the most loyal constituents” of Pinellas County. By 2002, the population had grown to 4,086 people on 565 acres (2 km²). The economy has traditionally been based on agriculture with some manufacturing activity but growth has since slowed due to low demand for manufactured products in today's global marketplace Today's economy relies heavily upon tourism which continues to be one of Rockledge's mainstay businesses
