After Commodore Jocko Hoeft relieved Rear Admiral Withers as commanding officer of NAS Rota on 1 November 1969 following his retirement from active service due to age 80 years old, responsibility for facility operations passed briefly from Commodore Hoeft's office to that of First Lieutenant Gerald Ahern before passing again over two years later to Second Lieutenant Donny Burcham effective 18 May 1973 having been acting lieutenant colonel since 1 October 1968 with rank of captain upon promotion from acting lieutenant colonel; aboard USS Coral Sea (CVA-19) during their 5th Vietnam deployment . Aircraft carriers serving in Operation Desert Storm had their main anchorage at Rota before being returned home or deployed elsewhere following that theatre’s end. Aircraft carrier aircraft based out of NAS Rota took part in numerous strikes against targets inside North Vietnam during Operation Rolling Thunder including attacks against targets such as Hoi An Airfield on 8 February 1991 Additionally Carrier aircrew were also used extensively throughout other Vietnamese ports along southern coast engageing Vũ Nguyên Tử Airport facilities while conducting strikes against enemy forces ashore There have been several re-titling ceremonies associated with various changes/renovations taking place at NAS Rota during its decade long tenure including: “New corrosion resistanthardened steel superstructure & piping systems” On 2 December 2002 ,the name change ceremony for Naval Base Royal Palm Beach came about when Headquarters UDTrealization Command decided almost unanimously - Vice Chairman William J Gibbs III said - "After more than 10 years experience providing world class training capabilities our installations have become known colloquially around here as 'NAVY' ". NAVY STATION ROYAL PALM BEACH - This is where all activity relatedto Naval BaseRoyal Palm Beach took place starting back 41 years ago! As one goes through Admiralty Row they continue walking down towards Marine Drive which leads you into what once was just a large yard! The buildings that you see now were built between 1951-1957 by local contractor George Brazelton! What we saw yesterday morning is basically what appeared on paper only back then!!!!! Today we enjoy 3 acres waterfront property complete with parade ground 2 gun salutes parades every weekend!! You can find lawn chairs outside if desired however I suggest reaching inside and sitting or standing inside so you don't get wet...or walk across Hurricane Alley!!! To top it off there are plentyof souvenirs & ephemera available if purchased direct from descendants or owners today thru Sunday 4pm thru 12am!!!! Now let's go explore some more!!!

On October 14, 1815 she fought in the Battle of Mobile Bay where she lost her best officer, Commodore John Rodgers USN. In 1830-31 she served as a station ship at Norfolk Naval Station before being decommissioned on September 1st, 1830 and sold for scrapping on December 16th same year.

Royal Palm Beach was founded on November 13, 1926 by King George V of Great Britain and Queen Mary of England as a hunting and fishing resort for British nobility on the southern tip of Florida. On October 3, 1928, the name was changed to Royal Palm Beach after Mount Royal in Canada became its official center point. In 1932, President Franklin D. Roosevelt made it an American Samoa territory; and in 1941 it passed into US military control as communications outpost between Key West Naval Base and Fort Myers Naval Air Station were moved from nearby Jupiter to Royal Palm Beach during World War II while Fort Myers housed Navy aviation units that included Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bombers and Douglas A-4 Skyhawks fighter aircraft prototypes based at Key West Naval Air Station until 1945 when they were transferred back to Jupiter Naval Base The post office at Royal Palm Beach opened on February 16, 1927; it continued open until 1959.
