Safety Harbor, Florida is a small town located in Bay County, Florida. It is home to the Safety Harbor Marina and Resort which offers boat rental, fishing, swimming, and golfing experiences. The population of Safety Harbor was 598 as of the 2010 census. Safety Harbor is situated on the Gulf of Mexico about 25 miles (40 km) south of Pensacola and 25 miles (40 km) north of New Orleans. As a result of its location between two major oceans and its relatively low latitude - 33 degrees - Danger Harbour has been prone to hurricanes from both land and sea for centuries. The first hurricane to hit Safety Harbor was Hurricane Betsy in 1935. A second hurricane, Charley, made landfall here in 1938. A third and fourth hurricanes left damage here after making landfall: Frances in 1945; Ivan in 1996; Katrina in 2005). The most recent hurricane to affect Safety Harbour was Maria which made landfall here on September 20th 2017 causing extensive flooding across much of Bay County including parts of downtown Safety Harbor where minor damage occurred during impacts but total loss occurred due toMaria’s winds reaching inland through breaches caused by Irma days earlier

Safety Harbor is a town in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1892 by John A. White and his brother-in-law George Miles as a small community on the mouth of Tampa Bay just north of Clearwater Beach. The name "Safety Harbor" was chosen because it was one of several towns that would offer protection to vessels docking at the bay, including Hillsborough and Dunedin. The first store in Safety Harbor opened in 1895 and soon became known for its fresh catch from the bay - such as crabs and fish - as well as its wide selection of groceries and hardware items. In 1906, Captain James Waddell who had run an salt mining company near Clearwater beach established a wharf there for shipping goods bound for Cuba. After years of growth, Safety Harbor's first post office opened in 1915 with Waddell serving as the first mail carrier from his wharf to safety harbors all over Southeast Florida In 1922, two brothers by the name of Fenton started a grocery store called Fenton's which quickly became one of Safety Harbor's most popular businesses. By 1925, Fenton's had become a major player onshore in the local fishing industry with their own dockside dock where they processed catches brought ashore by fishermen during their day job In 1931, Safety Harbor incorporated as a city under Section 810(a) of state law with Mayor Harry Burt leading the charge to create what would eventually become one of St Petersburg’s most vibrant neighborhoods During World War II, many residents enlisted into service or volunteered to work on war production plants located around St Petersburg; including parts played by Safety Harbor like munitions manufacturing and shipbuilding .
