The Air Force has a long and proud history of giving back to the community. From providing service in World War II to supporting our bases today, the AF has always been there for its citizens. In Sebring, Florida, this tradition continues with the air force's recently renovated hangar and museum. The museum is open every day from 9am to 5pm and features galleries on military history, aeronautical engineering, airpower history, and more. The hangar is also home to the propeller-driven F-14 Tomcat fighter jet simulator. The origins of the air force gift program can be traced back to World War II. At that time, aircraft were scarce and donations were necessary in order to support the war effort. One such donation was made by Major General Hap Arnold of Army Air Forces who donated an airplane components factory in Daytona Beach, Florida. This factory was used to produce bombers for American forces overseas. In 1949, Secretary of Defense James Forrestal designated Sebring as a center for research and development of advanced jet aircraft technology under the direction of USAF Headquarters at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio. It would not be until 1969 that Sebring became an official USAF base when it was transferred from US Naval Base Miami (OH). From 1969 through 1978, Sebring hosted numerous aerospace exhibitions which showcased United States' newest aerospace technologies including Concorde passenger jets operated by Aer Lingus Airways; Northrop Grumman Aircraft Systems demonstrators demonstrating their new A-6H Eagle helicopter; McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet fighters being flown remotely from Creech Airport in Nevada; Bell Helicopter Textron YM-1 Huey helicopters from Davis Monthan AFB Arizona; Boeing 707s being displayed by Lockheed Martin Aircraft Division at Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson Arizona; Pan Am International JFK - Lufthansa flight #PASchedule arriving into JFK Control Tower at 6:10p PDT...and much more! These exhibitions brought together industry leaders from around the world who could all watch (and learn) about future advancements in aviation technology! In 1978, after decades of innovation and progress within United States Aerospace Industries (USAAI), USAF Headquarters renamed USAAI HQ - Space & Missile Command (SIMC) effective 1 Jan 1979 pursuant thereto relating thereto...the mission change represented a fundamental transformation within USAAI reflecting major strides made since its establishment as an independent agency within DOD on 15 Jun 1958.... In 1990 following allegations that United States Military Academy midshipmen had engaged in sexual assaults against cadets duringinstructional periods between 1987 and 1989..........USDAMidshipmen denied any wrong doing......... On 4 Dec 1990 USDAMidshipmen received a letter.....of apology from President George H W Bush......for USDAMidshipmans role................in cover up............... On 30 Mar 1993 USS Independence CVN 73class arrived at NAS Pensacola with gifts totaling over $125K.........This warship honors Marine Corps personnel killed or wounded during Operation Desert Storm............. Sebring is a city located in Sebring County, Florida, United States. The population was 25,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. The town was founded by prospectors in 1859, and became a general merchandise center for central Florida after the opening of the railroad to that region in 1865. Growth slowed starting in the 1980s as new subdivisions were built near I-4 and Interstate 95. However, during the 1990s Sebring experienced a rebirth with new development around Main Street and US-1A/SR 724. Today, Sebring is home to several shopping malls including First American Center mall (owned by JCPenney), Universal CityWalk theme park, and PGA National Resort & Spa complex which includes four golf courses including one designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Sebring is a city located in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 83,853 at the 2010 census. It has been a center of African American culture and politics for many years. The name "Seguridad" means security in Spanish. The first European settlers in what is now Sebring arrived from Cuba on July 4, 1795, during the first Seminole War as part of an effort to gain Indian land that was coveted by Spain and its viceroys. On December 12 of that year they were met with hostility by Creek Indians who had gathered to watch the ships dockside. A brief skirmish ensued before all parties went their separate ways without bloodshed. In 1827 Manuel Martinez de la Torre built a sawmill on the banks of the Stonington River near present day Sebrings downtown core. This mill would become one of Sebrings most important economic engines over ensuing decades and remain in business until it closed its doors in 1978 due to lack of demand from buyers after several hurricanes destroyed crops throughout much of Central America during those years (see also The People's History Museum). The town's early growth was due largely to its location within easy access to Interstate 95 which connected Tampa and Jacksonville; as well as being available for farming industries such as citrus production and cattle raising - both through purchase or lease from adjacent landowners (now defunct). As intercity travel began growing more popular in the late 1800s, businesses grew larger and closer together; making Sebring an increasingly desirable place for commuters seeking out professional jobs outside their home cities or areas served by major airports like Miami-Dade or Orlando International Airport. By 1920 Sebring had 2 dozen retail stores along I-95 while housing units totaled only 204 – compared to today’s count of more than 1,000 residences including dozens of high-density apartment buildings dating back to post-World War II construction boom days – some reaching up into the millions dollars per unit! From this golden age came an era characterized by heavy advertising spending by local civic boostersorganizing downtown events such as Art shows and picnics; something known locally simply as “the good old days” when downtown streets were filled with vendors selling everything from petunias to Quaker Oats! Downtown businesses flourished despite slower economic times thanks largely to advances in technology: electric streetlights became common following World War II followed by air conditioning several decades later – making shopping malls around this area superfluous! And then there was Habitat for Humanity which started building homes here beginning earnestly about 1965 when then Mayor John Dorman announced his city would become a Joint Homeowner/Habitat Developer Zone With support from HUD/DOE!!! In recent years new interests have arisen focused upon restoration/updates/maintaining these beautiful historic landmarks within walking distance for future generations……………..
