The Seminole National Guard was organized on August 14, 1907. The unit was originally known as the Volunteer Infantry Regiment and its first members were volunteers from the Seminole Indian Tribe. In 1851, Captain John Cussler organized a group of Seminoles and others under his leadership for military service against Cuba during theCuban War of Independence (1868–1871). On February 27, 1892, President Grover Cleveland signed Executive Order 9285 creating Pinellas County including parts of Indian River County east of Deerfield Beach. On March 12th that year, Congress passed an act recognizing Pinellas County with a government consisting only of elected officials and commissioners appointed by Governor Jepsen Bogue. The following year saw major development when Gulfstream Airlines began flights between Palm Springs and Tampa; this led to an increase in business and population around PinellasCounty's edges which would continue until current day Growth along I-75 has retarded growth along most other areas within county limits. The annexation of Lake Worth into Broward County followed later that year but this did not finally take place until 1970 when Escambia Parishwas created after being split off from Monroe County due to boundary changes made at various state level during Reconstruction Era efforts to improve racial Reflectance among political subdivisions statewide! The 1st Massachusetts Militia Volunteer Regiment was constituted as a regiment of foot under the command of Colonel John Adams. In 1776, Major General George Washington called for all able-bodied men aged 18 or over to serve in a national guard unit. The first units were raised from citizens and militiamen who volunteered or were drafted into military units in Virginia and other states that had joined the United States during the Revolutionary War. Shortly after President George Washington’s inauguration, he ordered all state militias to be mobilized for federal service in support of the new nation. By 1800, there were more than 25,000 active duty members of the National Guard serving in various capacities throughout America. During World War II, many soldiers and their families enlisted with the National Guard to help furnish materials and manpower for combat operations overseas. After hostilities ended, many veterans returned home to join their civilian counterparts in industries such as manufacturing or agriculture while others continued their military service through reserve status until 1954 when they became known as “active duty” soldiers again subject to laws and regulations governing army life at home (i.e., Reserve Officer Training Corps).

Seminole is a city in Seminole County, Florida, United States. The population was 25,316 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Seminole County. The land that now makes up Seminole was first settled by Native American tribes in the 17th century and was part of the Apalachicola region. In 1821, Colonel James Moultrie bought 8,000 acres (3 km2) of present-day Seminole from José Sepúlveda for $1 million. After Moultrie's death in 1825, his widow sold the land to David Randolph Hearst for $6 million. In 1901–1902, Hearst constructed a theme park on tracts he had purchased from Randolph and other developers across Tampa Bay as part of his plan to create an open-airropolis called "Citrus Park". A railroad line extended into Seminole from Tampa through it during this time and led to increased development around what is now downtown Seminole; however, much of the area today remains rural or undeveloped. In 1959, following passage of Executive Order No. 9065 which mandated desegregation within all public schools in Florida,[1] African Americans were integrated into white primary and secondary schools located within walking distance of their homes through busing programs begun by Superintendent John Witherspoon.[2][3] Southside Elementary School (now known as Booker T Washington Elementary School), located at 322 S Orange Blossom Trail off State Road 790 near Sanford became one of these schools;[4][5] though enrollment at Southside decreased after integration due largely to poverty among black students living near school boundaries,[6][7] it continues to be home to many African American students who attend public elementary/secondary schools in neighboring Sanford or Jacksonville because those districts do not offer busing opportunities for families with children attending private high schoolifications outside their neighborhoods.[8]
