The St. Cloud Army Garrison is the only active military installation in the state of Florida and it has been serving its community since 1855. The Garrison offers a variety of services to the citizens of St. Cloud, including deployments to warzones around the world and various training opportunities for the local police force. Since 1992, when Army Brigadier General James L. Kohnke donated land to house the Garrison, Soldiers from all over America have come to visit and serve their country. The Garrison has even hosted biannual international competitions which have brought together troops from countries such as Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India and Spain. Today, there are over 1,000 Soldiers at the Garrison who enjoy a wide range of activities that include hiking/climbing in Boundary Waters National Park; playing sports on-site; participating in cultural events such as concerts and art exhibitions; learning about explosives or infantry tactics; or simply spending time with family and friends.

St. Cloud, Florida is a small city located in Monroe County, Florida. The population was 12,872 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat for Monroe County and home to the St. Cloud University campus. The community was founded in 1851 by Norwegian immigrants and has been called "the granary of America." The town's name comes from Svea (Sweden), meaning "stainless" because of its many white-washed buildings and streets full of fine glassware and other high-quality items made in Europe at that time. The town had a population of only 100 people when it was first established, but it grew quickly due to its location on navigable waterways and its easy access to markets for goods brought overland from Sweden or Denmark. St. Cloud is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,879 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville–St. Augustine Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what would become St Cloud was James Dooley in 1836. Dooley and his family founded a log cabin on the bluff overlooking Clearwater River just upstream from present-day downtown St Cloud. In 1840, Doctor John Fenton established himself as a physician in St Cloud and soon became known for treating major diseases in the area such as yellow fever and cholera. In 1845, Captain George Hull built a sawmill and gristmill on Clearwater River just downstream from modern-day downtown St Cloud which quickly became one of the largest mills in central Florida. Hull also started selling bread and flour to local farmers and served as theirown township trustee until his death in 1849. During this time period, small farming operations were numerous throughout Polk County due toeer easy access to water and fertile land; however, no large dairy or meatpacking businesses developed until around World War II when better transportation methods made it easier for goods to move between eastern markets and southern production regions across America's Gulf Coast states. Today, many descendants of those early settlers still reside in (or are descended from) downtown St Cloud – including many whoowned or operate successful businesses there today such as banks, restaurants/bars/cafes/theaters/, printing presses/, medical clinics/, ranching licences etc.; all while maintaining close ties with their ancestors who originated here more than 160 years ago!
In 1819, St. Cloud was founded by Jacob Duhring and his wife Catharine. The town rapidly grew in popularity for its fertile soil, plentiful water resources, and easy access to the nearby Tampa Bay area. By 1875, St. Cloud had a population of over 10,000 people. In 1916, the city was renamed after Gustavus Adolphus Lindquist in honor of his donation of land to the city.
