The United States Army was founded on Dec. 8, 1775 in St. Cloud, Florida by George Washington as a militia to protect the area against British invaders. The army grew rapidly and by 1824 had become an all-volunteer force of over 100,000 men. On July 4, 1898, the United States acquired Florida from Spain through the Treaty of Paris in what is known as the Spanish-American War. On October 25th of that year, General John J. Pershing ordered American troops into central Cuba to quell a revolutionary uprising there which had started two weeks earlier after a U.S.-trained brigade mutinied in Santiago de Cuba. In World War I (1914-18), the United States Army fought on both sides of the war and fielded more than 60 million soldiers who served in more than 50 countries across Europe and Asia. In World War II (1939-1945), America’s largest land army fought in such campaigns as Operation Overlord ( Normandy), Sicily and Italy; The Battle of Saipan; The Battle of Okinawa; The Battle of Inchon; and The Korean War (1950-53).

In 1837, fur trader George A. Smith and his family founded St. Cloud on the eastern shore of Lake Superior. At first, the town was little more than a trading post and warehouse. But by 1853, St. Cloud had a population of about 150 people and was becoming known as a commercial center for the area. During the early days of St. Cloud, there were few permanent residents other than traders and voyageurs who used the village as a place to rest, trade goods, or conduct missionary work. However, over time, many people from around Minnesota came to live in St. Cloud because it offered a good climate and good resources: The lake's huge ice pack created an ideal environment for growing crops; and the surrounding country was rich in timber that could be converted into lumberjacks' tools and homes." The town's growth ended when gold seekers discovereduggets at Sault Ste Marie in 1858 and began flowing into Minnesota looking for new land to exploit. By 1861, only seventy-five people lived in St. Cloud; but within five years of its founding, it had become one of the most important commercial centers in Minnesota." Families who remained in Stcloud built up businesses such as grocery stores (1892), dry goods stores (1906), clothing stores (1912), flowers (1918), hardware (1920s-1970s) - all before moving away when their industry declined or when new markets became available elsewhere." Today, visitors can explore old buildings including the original trading post which is now home to the local historical society; visit small towns built around railroad tracks that are still viable today; take part in various cultural events such as ice cream socials or summer concerts at nearby beaches; or go fishing on Lake Superior's large variety of fish species."

St. Cloud is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to enter what is now Polk County were Spanish traders and missionaries in the 16th century. In 1763, French trader Jean-Baptiste LaFontaine explored and charted the St. John's River before finding a route to Pensacola Bay through what is now St. Cloud and neighbouring businesses such as Moultrie Island (now part of Daytona Beach). After LaFontaine's discovery, France ceded this area to Spain in 1795 as part of the Treaty of Paris following its defeat in the Seven Years' War with Great Britain. In 1836, Henry DeTamble founded an agricultural community called Tambletown on northeastern Indian Key near St. Cloud after discovering fertile land there from his explorations of that area during the Seminole Wars (1825-1830). When he died in 1839, his son Henry Augustus DeTamble became proprietor and developed the property into a large commercial center for agriculture and commerce with connections to Pensacola Bay by way of canals and riverside roads. In 1850, DeTamble sold most of his interest to James Whitehead who renamed it Tamblepoint; Whitehead operated it until 1893 when it passed into hands of Ladd & Company who marketed it as "the prettiest little town on Earth". During World War II much activity took place at Tamblepoint which included production of munitions plants used for both bombing raids over Japan and naval warfare against Japanese shipping off Florida Keys; some 2 million pounds (910 metric tons) were produced here between 1942-1945 However due mostly to lack access to raw materials postwar development stalled at TAMBLEPOINT while people largely returned home or left for other towns in western Florida ecosystems changed dramatically including increased flooding along waterways caused by Hurricane Irma that struck late September 2017 just after Tamblepoint had reopened following extensive damage from Irma . By early 2018 only about 10% remained standing with many having been destroyed or damaged by Irma including one plant where up to 80% off its roof had gone! A number local businesses have stepped up effort/funding towards restoration such as Friends Of TAMBLEPOINT Inc., started by businesswoman Lori Pritchard which has raised more than $120,000 since early 2018 primarily through donations Allegheny County issued Concession #1A giving them exclusive rights over land around ANDREW FIELD Park across Creek Road from Historic SNOWY BEACH once owned by WILDLIFE FESTIVAL founders Peggy Goudreau & Jim Rankin
St. Cloud was founded in 1851 by Elias Crouse and his wife, Martha Crouse. The first settler, David Grimes, arrived in 1852 and helped erect the first log cabin on the site. In 1870, John A. McLaren settled here with his family and began growing maize. By the early 1880s, St. Cloud had a population of around 100 people and was a small town known for its woolen textile manufacturing industry. However, by World War I the town had shifted to agriculture because of increasing demand for munitions in Europe. After the war ended, St. Cloud reverted to its traditional status as a small town until it experienced rapid growth during the late 1960s through the 1990s due to new immigration from other parts of America and Europe. In 2002, St. Cloud became one of 25 municipalities nationwide accepted into the City of Orlando's Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
